So back in 7th I started working on a TS army using HH models. I was interested in 30k but didn't know anyone playing it so I planned on making one army I could use in either game. Then the new TS models dropped and I gave up on that and bought some of those. But at some point I realized I was never going to paint all that trim and went back to the 30k models I had. I played around with paint schemes but couldn't pull off the metallic red with a brush and hated my airbrush, so I was very reluctant to use it. So they've been in boxes for years at this point, making no progress aside from the odd conversion here and there.

Well, now I am keen to finally make progress on the army. I replaced my airbrush and have had a much easier time with the metallic red scheme on the few test models I've done. I have a reasonable understanding of TS in 40k but haven't played 30k at all. So, what do I need to make TS work? Obviously some of this is up in the air at the moment. But generally, where should I start? I have some mk3 guys with some converted into sorcerers but I don't even know if regular units have sorcerers in 30k. I have some contemptors and leviathans too, and a land raider variant I don't see on the FW store anymore. I have some praetors and sorcerers but I don't know what loadouts are legal or even what different HQs do.

So what should I be looking for beyond the new box? Feeling pretty overwhelmed, but very excited to move forward.

Your army will generally be built much in the same was as any/most legion armies you'll just potentially have less dudes overall (because youre upgrading stuff for psychic shenanigans) as well as paying more for your HQs because you MUST give them psychic mastery levels which have a decent cost to them.

Beyond that, all you need to do is look at the various Prosperine Cult options (Pavoni, Raptora, Corvidae, Athanaen, Pyrae) and seeing how you can make the most of those with what youve got alongside which RoW youre likely to run more often than not.

Mixing in parts.from the 40k kits is great but avoid the rubrics heads, guns and packs swap those for more heresy looking ones and.you are golden. The sorcerer kit is filled with bits.for characters.

Here's some of mine.

They have some excellent teminators, and the plastic models are a pretty solid fit for them too.

Oh and beware Sisters of Silence obviously :P

I love the Sekhmet models, but the cost has deterred me thus far. I was looking at converting some Cataphractii into Sekhmets, and I have some khopesh bits for it, but I can't find any good left arms to hold them. Guess I just need to bite the bullet and buy a squad.

one of my first videos was on what your first purchase should be, i have a 1ksons army and think this is pretty relevant if you want to take a look :)

Thanks, I'll take a look!

These are excellent. I do have some 40k bits left from the rubrics and sorcerers I grabbed. I also mixed in a few bits from Tzaangors on a few. I'll see if I can get a good picture when I get home.

If you buy the new plastic box set you will get Cataphractii. You could then buy the Forgeworld power axe upgrade set - they have full left arms. Then take off the power axes (look like massive chain axes) and replace with khopesh? No idea if that saves a lot, depends on what is already sunk cost. Someone would still buy the massive chain axes you have left for (say) excoriator conversions.

That was the route i was considering. That, or replace the chain fist blade with a khopesh blade and just look a little weird

Edit: Are regular cataphractii any good for TS? Or do they do anything Sekhmet can't? I don't know if it'd be worth it to have both or if i should aim more for making them all Sekhmet.

Unless it's changed for 2.0, Sekhmet can be in either Cataphractii or Tartaros terminator armour. Which means you can use the 40k Rubic termies, maybe even mix both sets together as the parts seem quite interchangeable.

Well you get one standard left arm per squad in the cataphractii sprue, to hold the sergeant’s power sword. And can’t some Sekhmet swap out the khopesh? So with a little bit of juggling and maybe trip to bits store you might be able to minimise the “weird” conversions and still be 100% plastic.
