Helias_Tancred
Old news, GW stopped making their glazes. :( I use the gazes to do my marine eye lenses. I use Waywatcher green glaze over Vallejo white for my Blood Angels, and Bloodletter red glaze over Vallejo white for my Dark Angels. Any recommendations for when my pots go dry? Thanks. Arkhanist
The easiest way to substitute the old glazes is to do some simple mixes of vallejo game inks. Green ink with yellow ink + water makes waywatcher green, and red ink with a bit of yellow ink + water makes bloodletter, ratios in this video. Rik Lightstar
I think you'd likely be fine with the Blood Angels Red and Warp Lightning Contrast paints. They'd give a similar effect on lenses to using the glazes. OR there are the Clear Air paints from GW that used to be the Forgeworld ones, there's an Angron Red and Mortarion Green that would be closer to colour matches I'd say. Guest
Me personally I am going to use the Contrast ones to make them. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/374393-a-substitute-for-gws-bloodletter-glaze/#findComment-5831873 Share on other sites
killersquid
I use Flesh Tearers Red for my red eye lenses, works the same as the glaze (except maybe a bit more vibrant if used without dilution). The downside is they're not quite the same shades to match anything already done with the glazes, which is why I suggested the ink mixes as those are extremely close to the old colours. Bloodletter lies between Blood Angels Red and Gryph-hound Orange, while warp lightning is probably the closest to waywatcher, though it is a bit darker. Helias_Tancred
I really like that the old glazes gave sort of a glow look. I wonder if the contrast method, thinned down, gives a similar effect?
