Bladeguard Veterans or Primaris Sword Brethren?

As title suggests, ASSUMING TO USE 5+ INVULNERABLE SAVE VOW, what would you pick and why?

 

I run a Bladeguard Veteran squad of 5 in both 1000 and 2000 point match, followed with a Primaris Apothecary to heal and revive them (especially when I use an Impulsor). With the new Armor of Contempt buff I was thinking about giving to the Sword Brethren a chance...A squad of 6/7 everyone armed with powerswords and one with double claws, maybe.

I would lose a wound per model, but I'll get more attacks because of their numbers...what would you do?

most people make a wrong assumption that they have the same task.

 

thats absolute wrong. BGV are good because of their defensive stateline with one wound more and one save better and of course a 4++.

They need no transport.

 

Sword Brethren are totally different because they are better Veteran Intercessors. And Veteran Intercessors are basicly improved Intercessors.

So there is no "or" but the question what do you need for your army.

Both? I like them for different things! Sword Brethren with just Power Swords are only 25pts, good for chopping up lots of stuff.

 

Bladeguards are sort of pure tanks anti elite infantry for me, or good to tarpit a hard to kill unit like a Primarch or big baddy. Anything that can't ignore invuls.

I am back right now from a game against Custodes. Sword Brethren can be very good but they are very tricky to play.  I think they are not possible to play without Impulsors.

And Aurelian shroud is soo powerful on them.

I have to try them yet. Impulsor only gets 6 of them, so i suppose if I have to run them with Bladeguards too like Marshall Mittens said I suppose I should drop this vehicle for them...

I see. The question comes because of the Elite spot, mostly!

The difference I see is, I will always fit BGV into a list because they're a solid unit, more so for BT's.

 

I wouldn't really bother with Sword Bro's in every list because I feel like they're just another name for Veteran Intercessors

I haven’t used them yet but with a 5++ save and mini Transhuman I think they have merit.

I take this back... SB are not good because every other unit can perform well if you play them perfectly. But its way harder.
