As the title suggests, I’ve got a Recon Squad on the workbench for my XIII Legion that I’m hoping to get paint on quite soon. Not using the FW resin kit, but kitbashing from plastic Mk IV and various resin weapons / upgrades.

I’m interested to see / hear how you have all painted your Recon squads. Have you just done normal legion colours, or something else?

So far ideal for mine have included:

- Standard UM colours

- Grey / Black armour with blue paldrons

- Some kind of camo / drab green, with blue paldrons, head and power pack

Although not quite the same, I painted my "eliminators" much the same way I was planning to do my Thousand sons recon squad (a more muted armour scheme from the same colour palette I use normally) and used the same method on the cloaks I use on bases:

I might get round to do a Legion Recon squad at some point....

For my 1ksons they were done in normal legion colours, for my Salamanders i am using the Badab war/Tempest Vault classic black and yellow camo. For my upcoming Ultras its just standard legion colours.  For my white scars i went for a darker white using a cream base and replaced all the red clan markings with black ones.

Grey with Blue pauldrons would look great and be more distinct saving the Black for Destroyers. Although this is a setting where you got fancy shrouding tech, cloaking fields and whatnot that's far more abundant than in 40k so the idea of stealth recon units going to battle in full bright livery isn't actually absurd.

For my Iron Warriors squad i went for a slightly muted metal and let the camo cloaks and more "operator" heads do the talking :smile.:

Damn that is so cool.. I definitely think it makes sense for the recon marines to be hidden by camo (the "I am here and not afraid!" thing makes absolutely no sense in the context that you would be trying to view the enemy and remain undetected :D )

And as Sarabando has shown its a great way to get the retro colour schemes back on show and tie in to the old Rogue Trader stuff

I equipped them with Shotguns and tooled up the Sergeant.with a Combi-Volkite/powerfist  to use them as a  light assault unit with a Stormeagle dedicated transport.

1st edit: forgot the image

2nd edit: left one recon marine in the battlefoam
