Hello everyone!

So Horus Heresy has really amped up in popularity at my LGS, with mostly new players eager for a chance to actually play it. So, as we wait for the box to drop, I wanted to ask some questions and see if I can get some guidance with preperation as I plot out models and armies.

I know we don't have the full rule drop, but I know leaks and such have gone around and people have insight from the previous edition. I am just looking for as close to answers as I can get and maybe get a drop on a few things.

1) Are Indomitus Terminators useable in Horus Heresy? I have a box of 40k Terminators that I want to get some use out of. Would these be legit? What kind of loadouts do they use? Could I just use them as other termies and roll with it? I am planning Imperial Fists if that makes any difference.

1.5) Same question, but what about Boxnaught Dreads, anything special about them or can 40k ones just port over?

2) Are there any special ways to build armies? I know 7th/1.0 used a standard detachment for most things, has that changed at all? Do the Imperial Fists have any special troops/Rites of War that can alter how you build an army?

3) How do Daemons of the Ruinstorm work? Can I just use the regular 40k Daemons? Are there some 40k units that don't transfer over, like Chariots? Are there any unique Daemons of the Ruinstorm things that aren't represented by the 40k Daemons? I am looking for a "quick" and easy way to build up a Traitor force to balance things out and I already have a few Daemons (mostly Slaanesh).

4) Are fortifications a thing that can be taken in a regular army? They got rather ignored in 40k, but I would love to make some hardcore Imperial Fists fortress models!

I know not all of this is crystal clear, but I am just looking for some insight. I am getting antsy, so anything to kinda prepare me for the big release is good! Thanks for all the help, I am excited to dig into this.

So with all the rules that have been leaked as well as the playtest phase 3 leaks we have a somewhat decent idea of how everything is shaping up in the new edition but there's still a few unknowns so to answer your questions:

1) While indomitus pattern terminator armour is usable in HH 1.0 and is definitely existed during the heresy, in HH 2.0 each unit has it's own entry for each pattern of terminator armour. For example Legion centurion in Cataphractii armour and Legion centurion in Tartaros armour. So far despite all the leaks we have not seen an unit entries with indomitus pattern terminator armour.

There is a pdf to be dropped alongside the new edition that will contain units that previously had models but no longer have unit entries in the new liber astartes/hereticus books which may have entries for indomitus terminators. Failing that most players would probably let you use the tartaros profile to represent indomitus terminator armoured units.

As to their wargear legion terminators by default come with combi-bolters (twin-linked bolters) and your choice of power weapon (sword, axe or maul) and from their can upgrade their power weapon to a lightning claw, power fist, chain fist or thunder hammer. They can also exchange their combi-bolter for a volkite charger or a combi weapon, with 1 in 5 swapping their combi bolter for a heavy flamer, plasmer blaster or reaper autocannon. Additionally Imperial fist terminators can opt to swap their combi-bolter with a storm shield, and/or 1 in 5 may take an assault cannon.

1.5) Box Dreads have been absent from all the leaks however are much more likely to appear in the PDF of "missing" units on launch  so I wouldn't stress, there's not much difference between them in 30k and 40k aside from a few weapon options like volkite or flamestorm cannons.

2) The same force org from HH 1.0 still exists although primarchs are now their own force org slot rather than a lord of war however there points still contribute towards the same low/primarch cap (25% of the points limit)  and Imperial fists have two Rites that change the force org slots of certain units, Templar assault makes templar brethren troops and stone gauntlet makes phalanx warders troops.

3) No one knows for HH2.0 as there book isn't going to be released until some time after launch, however in HH 1.0 they're different from 40k demons. So when making your army you pick an Aetheric domain, there's five of them, 4 of which line up with the traditional chaos gods and a 5th anti demon esc one that is associated with Malal. Additionally when it comes to units instead of having say Bloodletters, demonettes, plague bearers and pink horrors there is simply a lesser demon unit that has a variety of upgrades that can shape the unit into something akin to bloodletters demonettes etc, some of which are locked behind the aetheric domain you choose. So it's a very sandbox army list and has entries analogous to every 40k demon unit plus even more. Personally if I was you I'd hold off on a ruinstorm demon army until the their book is released.

4) yes fortifications are a thing that can be taken but they're a lot more bland than they are in HH 1.0 and they weren't that great to begin with
