At one point he acquired the adjoining space and entered a partnership with a brewhouse to open a tasting room as part of the store. Put tables in the back room, beer was good, I really enjoyed going there, even when not playing anything (just to drink a beer or two). However, for various reasons, the bar side was underperforming, and the game side was subsidizing it heavily (so I believe, anyway). Game store is still there, and prospering, but the partnership dissolved and the bar is gone. Shame really. A bar attached to a business that heavily caters to minors probably wasn’t a great idea to begin with tbh. That would be true except I rarely see minors in there - mostly adults playing games. Also, technically, it was a tasting room, so no 21 and over age limit for entry (obviously to drink) - meaning you could go with your kids, let them get a game in, while you get a pint in. Also, across the street (walking distance) from the main gate of a Marine Corps base. REALLY not a terrible idea, good location, just poor advertising on the part of the brewery, I believe. The beer was decent enough you didn't even need to (really) be a gamer to enjoy it. Decent looking bartender as well, should have had some young Marines flocking in. My parents aren’t like weird puritans or anything but I doubt they would have taken 12 yr old me to a place where adults were drinking. probably why you didn’t see many kids, but also having an actual cafe with food and non-alcoholic beverages simply would have had a large demographic and probably would have done better.
