appiah4
I made this chart for my own use when choosing VMC paints or RAL sprays while painting Blood Angels. Maybe it will be of help to someone else. appiah4
They are the RGB values of the colors. The closer the Red values are, the closer their brightness is. Well, for the most part. You will find that this assumtpion does not work for some of the low R colors where desaturating them by adding Blue/Green also makes them lighter and that messes up the order a bit - hence why VMC Red reads as being lighter than Mephiston Red, for example.. It's a guide of sorts though. Desat line is basically G+B; the higher that is the more desaturated the color will be, so in that regard you can compare the saturation of two colors. Just another way of judging their similarity when your eye starts playing games. In general VMC colors are more desaturated than Citadel ones, but they are usually of very similar brightness. My switch to VMC was mostly hassle free. Also, RAL colors are pretty damn good matches for many Citadel paints as well; buy a high quality off the shelf matte spray of these RAL codes and you are good to go. I use Edding Permanent Sprey for RAL 3020 for example, it works as a primer/basecauat of Evil Sunz Scarlet all in one.
