Hello all,

I've been a forum lurker for several years but this is my first post. I mostly model/paint and have never played any of GW's games but immensely enjoy a lot of the Heresy lore so I when I make models I try to make them as loreful/thematic as possible.

Excuse my ignorance but I am a little confused with some of the rules on wargear in the new Liber Astartes book; perhaps a couple of examples will highlight my query. For example, in the old Forgeworld HH rulebooks it stated explicitly that Legion Moritats could not take Terminator Armour but there is no such mention in the Liber Astartes book...so in HH 2.0 can a Moritat, being a Consul, take Terminator armour now? I guess I would also extend the same query regarding Armour options to Legion Chaplains and Vigilators.

When compared to the previous edition rulebooks, the sections on the Consuls in Liber Astartes seem a bit more ambiguous because in 2.0, to my novice mind at least, the implication is that any Consul can take Centurion wargear options unless explicitly stated? Perhaps I have missed something obvious, if so please tell me so!

PS. Incidentally, are there any visual references for a Moritat's Disintegrator pistol?

What armour types a consul can wear is now listed on the various Centurion profiles rather than under the consul entries, so check there for what works.

Yes if a consul option does not limit your options you can take what you like from the centurion entry.

Disintegrator pistols afaik have never been a thing in any meaningful sense so feel free to make any exotic pistol that catches your imagination!

In the new libers, now praetors and centurions are listed with separate sheets for each armour type, the consul upgrades a centurion can take depending on their armour are listed on their specific page - so while the basic centurion in artificer sheet lists (I think) all of the consul upgrades, the next page with 'legion cataphractii centurion' has a more limited selection, which does not include the moritat consul upgrade. The same applies to some extent for chaplains and vigilators - a chaplain is one of the options for the two terminator data sheets, but a vigilator upgrade is only on the artificer sheet.

Closest visual reference to a disintegrator pistol would be the one on this dude, or maybe something like the custodes adrathic weaponry (I think those were described as similar to disintegrators, tho I may be wrong), but as Noserenda says there's no meaningful current sculpts beyond this one off, so treat it like an archeotech pistol and just find some cool looking ones.

And for completeness, according to the largely accurate Phase 3 leaks a Chaplain can wear any armour but Moritats and Vigilators cant.

(I have the leak to hand but not the book :D )

The real book is pretty close to the same, as you mention, and for the sake of clarity the Legion Centurion (Power Armor), Legion Cataphractii Centurion and Legion Tartaros Centurion all have the option to be upgraded to the Legion Chaplain consul but ONLY Legion Centurions(PA) can upgrade to Moritats or Vigilator consuls.

This edition, not a lot swap out their armor types mid datasheet so they list out iterations. It's not terrible like it is in 40k books with 5 different types of a specific unit but it does pad out the HQ section a bit.

Thank you kindly for all the replies, it would seem that I must have skirted over the Centurion Profiles.

I'm glad this cleared things up though I will eternally struggle with what weapons to model on what Consuls. Even though I don't play the game I still like to have them modelled with what is considered both a fluffy and viable gaming load out. Go figure.
