The cats out of the bag!

We now know what will come in the plastic Predator kit.

435pts for a bare bones squadron of 4 with Predator Cannons and Heavy Bolters seems like a real decent way to run them for killing medium/light vehicles and non marine infantry.

However in a Marine/Spartan/Dread/Kratos heavy meta, it's maybe not the best loadout?

The all Volkite loadout speaks to the voice inside of me that wants to yell "Choom Choom http://bolterandchainsword.com/uploads/emoticons/censored.gif " at my opponent while killing his men with lots of martian death ray shots. But again maybe not the best option.

How do you all plan to run them?

Do not dodge the swear filter - even by self-censoring just let it do its thing.

In my loooooonng experience Predator cannons arent worthless, but they do suck against most things you want to kill.

Ive already converted up melta, grav and infernus turrets for Mars Predators, i was planning to do another 3-4 Deimos ones but they are missing the weapons i want so i might convert some more mars ones, thinking another infernus, and executioner, depending on how my budget and the release schedule line up.

Though worth mentioning im buildign a Predator assault company so things are themed that way, should probably do a conversion turreted command tank :D

So far I really liked the predator cannon/heavy bolter sponson loadout. It's pretty cheap and has a good weight of fire. S8 on the predator cannon is nice against the 2W 3+ armoursave units.
It's not the most reliable but with rending 6+ it still can hurt some of the heavier tanks.

Lascannon sonsons are also pretty reasonable for 10 points if you want some more firepower against vehicles or 2+ armoured units.

I still have to test the other turret and sponson options.

I'm going to run 3 in a Salamander Covenent list, but I've already had the thumbs up to use the Volkite turret as a flamestorm cannon, because I don't really want to be spending £200 and many more hours of time on the resin FW ones.

Obviously, if it turns out that there will be a weapons upgrade sprue 'soon' then I'll wait for the real deal.

Could you not ebay a flamestorm turret from the baal predator cheap?

I don't really want a 'modern' turret on a deimos, they're kinda square instead of round, so if I was going to do that at all then I'd just buy baal predators and shave the wings off for about £35 a go.

But I think the deimos predator will be reasonably priced, certainly compared to its resin counterpart, so if I can agree with my gaming group that the volkite turret is actually a flamestorm turret then that'll do for me.

I only really have two or three HH buddies anyway, as opposed to the half dozen 40kers, and I never go to tournaments, so the only thing stopping me fielding an entire proxy army is a sense of propriety, because otherwise they'd let me.

I mean literally grabbing the flamestorm cannon and gluing it on the turret

I'm the same with my group tbf. I'm not a massive fan of pickup games.

I think a warhammer world heresy weekend could be fun though. They're meant to be themed rather than competitive aren't they?

I know I'm building at least a Squadron three strong, one Deimos and two Mars.

It'll represent having lost three tanks in one engagement and sadly one crew.

Thinking I'll stay pretty basic with these and Predator Cannons.

Hehe i was actually considering some turret swaps for my poor battered squadron :)

I was hoping we could leave sponsons off honestly but it looks like the FW team arent a fan of nice smooth tanks and legion symbols :( At only 10pts to upgrade to lascannons from heavy bolters its a no brainer if you are mounting an AT turret or anything even vaguely similar. Not so sure about the volkites but i find typically volkite fans dont care too much about optimisation :P

Sometimes it has to be the rule of cool! When I get to my Dark Angels, I plan to go heavily into Volkite/Plasma/Grav/Conversion weapons to represent their access to DAOT weapons.

For my SoH Predators I may do Predator Cannon + Las Sponsons to keep them cheap, and then do 2x all CHOOM and 2x Grav/Choom for my DA.
