So I haven’t played since early in 7th Edition and I signed up for an escalation league style tournament at my local shop. The first three weeks are 1000pt games and 2nd three weeks are 2000pt games. I could use advice and tips. Also let me know if this is the wrong area for this. I am currently using everything that I have ready painted for Admech. For the 2000 pt game I am planning on using some of my Imperial Knights.

The Battle started on a short board with my opponent, and I placed on opposite corners. We rolled off and I ended up defender and the one going first. But first to Describe the Armies. My Homebrew Forge World Mjorn (Using Stygies VIII rules) is defending a set of ruins that may contain technology undiscovered from the Age of Strife. It was a small expedition led by the Warlord Technoarcheologist advised by a Skitarii Marshall from the Divisio Ingeniator. The Marshall was leading a small Cohort for his fist mission away from the Divisio. Setting up a Sniper Pattern Ranger Team at the edge of his control zone with an Onager Dunecrawler in support, The Marshall assigned his two Plasma Pattern Vanguard teams on patrols to neighboring areas to widen their control, with a vehicle hunter ranger team to support the further out team. A representative of Inquisitor Adahm Klerixus (Inquisitor Kyria Draxus) was 'interviewing' the Technoarcheologist on the soon to begin dig. Supporting was a Knight Paladin from House Fásacha (House Taranis Rules) when in the distance was observed sneaking in quite close for Knights a Lance of Chaos Knights lead by a known Ravenger.

The Chaos Ravenger was supported by several Amiger Class Walkers, making the lightly defended camp quite out matched. That however did not deter the cold processing of the Skitarii Marshall as his war processes engaged. The Ravenger's man objectives was Slaughter and the Assassination of the Mechanicus landing party.

All guns with the range to do so fired upon the lead Armiger whose marks of Tzeetch glowed in defiance. However the Neutron laser of the Dunecrawler as well as a Battlecannon and Arc Fire quickly brought down the lead warmachine. This quick victory and strategic positioning for follow up fire was however short lived. Even with their objective to tak down as many warmachines as possible that would be their only victory.

With twisted Screeching and howling of tortured souls the Ravenger was not going to allow the Imperium's agents stand in his way.

The Ravenger was much quicker than it looked, especially empowered by Khorne himself. Quickly running up to the Knight Paladin, the Ravenger decimated the Knight with a quick thrust of it's hand through the Knights power core which ruptured causing a massive explosion unanticipated by the Marshall wiping out the majority of both Vanguard Squads who were moving up in support while one of the remaining Amigers cleared the Vehicle hunters with a devastating hail of firepower. In a moment their well laid plans were trashed.

Before the Marshall could regroup and take control of the situation the Armiger charged at him and there he would be in a losing battle against a monstrosity as he barely clung to his life with aid of the Alpha of one the Vanguard squads trying to aid him.

But soon that mini battle would be concluded in Chaos's favor but not before the Valiant Skitarii did some damage to the Armiger making it too slow to keep up with his brethren.

Quickly charging up the field the Ravenger put an end to the devastating Neutron laser before it could cycle to another shot by quickly closing the distance. It became a stale mate for a short while as the Ravenger could not get through the shields of the Dunecrawler as it was actively cycled by the Technoarcheologist who was also using his skills to send scrape code and dataspike the Ravenger severely injuring it.

Even with the Inquisitor's psychic support, all they were able to do was retreat to a fall back position and give up the site. They vastly injured all three warmachines but did not have the firepower to completely subdue them.  The Victory of the Day ended in favor of Chaos but enough forces survived to call for reinforcements for another go at this strategicly important site to the Adeptus Mechanicus. It also gave valuable knowledge which would be uploaded to the next Skitarii Marshall for future encounters.

I liked it- kinda goofy that a knight can one-shot another knight like that IMO, but you were a good sport and made an interesting narrative around the battle.
I enjoy that you are building context around your games, almost as if you are making your own campaign around the individual battles.

Thank you for that. The plan is to work most if not all my games into narratives. I have until Saturday to make small tweaks to my list.  It’s another game this week and then next week at 1000 points then it’s 2000 points for the following three. I will post I. A bit what I have available and what’s able to be built in a short time frame and I will be open to suggestions on tactics or models to switch out.

Round two of this Tournament is another loss but opportunity for continuing a story.

The injured Skitarii Marshall and the Technoarcheologist, already in retreat tried to regroup just outside the ruins the Chaos Knights had driven them out of. Unknown to the Mechanicus forces this was not to be. The surrounding ruins of buildings and dilapidated walls of some ancient fortress was a stronghold outpost of a small group of Iron Warriors and their servants.

None the less the Skitarii forces attempted to clear a path to continue their retreat to a known safe zone. The Knight was quickly surrounded as he used his battle cannon on the battlements to suppress the enemy.

Killing off a few Iron Warrior Havocs, the Imperium forces rattled their sabers but the entrenched positions of the Masters of siege were nothing more than a lure to use up their remaining strength.

And into the trap they fell since the injured processes of the Skitarii Marshall did not interpret the danger soon enough. Quickly the Knight Paladin ended up in close combat and had to retreat off the field.

The warmachines of the Iron Warriors were a match for the power of the Imperial Knight. With the loss of such a powerful central piece in their strategy gone it was all the Skitarii could do to defend themselves.

Soon the Demon possessed machines of the Iron Warrior Hereteks were into the ranks of the Skitarii and what was an organized fall-back plan was a disorganized full retreat.

The powerful weapons of the Skitarii and battle plans of a fresh made troop of Skitarii was no match to the centuries knowledge of the uncontested masters of siege warfare.

The paths behind them explode as the Iron Warriors explode precoordinated ammo dumps that will cut off any access to the forces in that direction. Now the remenants, though tireless are in much need of repair and refit to be considered remotely battleworthy. Their trials are far from over however.

In Round three it will be a different make up of the Admech versus Word Bearers and their possessed.

So Game 3 was so bad it’s just depressing. I will do up the pictures and story later today/this weekend. Safe to say that the lack of ability was so bad that I didn’t kill a single unit. For a third straight game.

Edit: Still working on how to describe this because it made me slightly depressed at the time then I had a Drill Weekend. So yea but here are the pictures of Admech vs Word Bearers.

So game 4 was a success and now I need to do two battle reports

Edit: Here is the pictures. Story and report will come later as I can organize my thoughts. I also had a side game that didn't count for me and didn't take pictures of that I won. Game 4 was Imperial Knights/Admech vs Chaos Knights Revenge of the Paladin. The Side game was my same army vs Grey Knights. I also forgot to take a picture of final state but I ended up killing all his knights but one Armiger Class.

So straight up game 5 is another loss. Because I am playing all my battles I am in fifth place total in this tournament. So the Battle of control in which my Knights/Admech loss against the Vile Knife Ears (Eldar).

The Sneaky Eldar attacked with a warhost under the cover of Night, a lonely outpost of House Fásacha and their small allied Patrol of Skitarii on loan from Forge World Mjorn

The Fleet Eldar quickly surrounded the small force and was prepared for the firepower of The Imperial Knights due to the Farseer’s visions

Quickly bringing down Knights accepting the losses facing such heavy Firepower the Eldar whittled the forces of the Imperium.

Eventually the Knights were forced off the area they were honor bound to protect but not before settling off explosions to decimate the foot troops of the Eldar

This is now an Imperial Knight army not Admech but this is the last of this Tournament series for me. 
 

So final game in this tournament is a win for me and places me in 3rd as of right now if some others get their final games I will be either 4th or 5th place out of 18

Imperial Knights v Thousand Sons and was a pretty even battle.

Round 1 started with the defenders Thousand Sons moving in to swamp my Knight Preceptor with Psyker mortal wounding.

But then it was revenge of the Knights in the shooting with an Assassin killing Magnus, Some large warp beast, and a floating shaman on a disc taking a loss of life.

Soon it was a game of Attrition between Mortal Wounds in his Psychic phase and my Shooting Phase.

Assassin did his job but the Crusader was surprisingly short almost more than the Dominus

Commissioned Art done by Artist Tim Remin based off my first tourney battle last year. Depicting the start of my story based off that tourney of Forgeworld Mjorn supported by House Fasacha versus the Chosen of the Forsworn Silver. This Tournament specifically. :)
