After many years I'm back re-reading the first four novels again. I forgot just how great they are!

So were the Istvaan III population Slaanesh worshippers? Chaos worshippers? The former Imperial Governor turned rebel leader acted like he was supposed to do what he did on Istvaan III in order to bring the legions there? Like he was helping Horus giving them a reason to rid themselves of their loyalist elements?

Thanks.

Yes

A big aspect of Chaos is it uses its lesser servants as sacrifices to corrupt bigger targets

Look at the tutelaries - acting ‘nice’ for a century or 2 is nothing for a Daemon.

For the chaos gods they don’t care about their worshippers as they can eat their souls when they die anyway. And often there’s a theme of self annihilation when their cats paws realise they’ve been used.
