Hfran Morkai
Hello, I want to be starting with building a Drop Pod Assault List because it's thematically cool as (and a great way to start a campaign) so these are my opening thoughts. Tartaros Praetor 490 Paragon Blade (may go Great Frost Blade because Paragon seems default) Magna Combi-Melta Tartaros Command Squad 4 Chosen 1 x Twin Lightning Claws 2 x Power Weapons 3 x Magna Combi-Melta Chainfist Thunder Hammer Dreadclaw Apothecarian Detachment 65 Artificer Armour Power Weapon Contemptor 205 Melta Cannon Chainfist Graviton Gun Grey Slayers 340 Huscarl- Artificer, Thunder Hammer, Meltabombs 14 Slayers Vexilla 2 x Power Fist 8 x Power Weapons Grey Stalkers 270 Huscarl- Artificer Armour, Power Fist, Meltabombs 9 Stalkers Bolters 4 Power Weapons 2 Plasma Guns Drop Pod Grey Stalkers 265 Huscarl- Artificer Armour, Frost Axe, Meltabombs 9 Stalkers Bolters 4 Power Weapons 2 Plasma Guns Drop Pod Dreadclaw 115 Xiphon 125 Ramjet Diffraction Grid Leviathan 400 Grav Flux Bombard Siege Drill Phospex Discharger Dreadnought Drop Pod Kharbydis 235 Pretty sure it's 2500 on the nose (but it is 4AM and I'm sleep deprived haha). Plan is Slayers with an Apothecary in the Kharbydis for some Assault out of the Pod shenanigans. Couple of Stalker Squads for some utility, a little ranged punch and hopefully survive to get into combat (I also didn't want them exactly the same intentionally). Command Squad (at least when they land, maybe Dreadclaws will get to assault out of Deep Strike), Contemptor and Xiphon pull anti-Armour duty. Leviathan is a generalist. I can't help but feel I maybe need more bodies. Possibly lose the Leviathan for another squad of infantry but I like how utilitarian the Leviathan is (but also, it seems cliché). I could also look at putting the Praetor with the Slayers and freeing up the points on the Command Squad (which will look cool and be fun to model but will it be effective with such a mixed load out of weapons?). I think my biggest concern is making sure I have enough of the right anti-tank gear as the options are more limited. I'm not sure the 4 Combi-Meltas are a good choice on the Command Squad. Hfran Morkai
So an update to make the list fit more my Jarl and the Sixth. Tartaros Praetor 495 Paragon Blade Combi-Melta Command Squad Grenade Harness, Thunder Hammer 4 Chosen Chainfist, Combi-Melta Power Axe, Combi-Melta Power Lance, Combi-Melta 2 x Lightning Claws Dreadclaw Speaker of the Dead 125 Contemptor 320 Melta Cannon Chainfist Graviton Gun Dreadclaw Veteran Squad 220 Artificer Armour, Power Sword Meltagun 4 x Combi-Meltas Drop Pod Grey Slayer Pack 295 14 Slayers Artificer Armour, Thunder Hammer, Meltabombs 3 x Power Axe 3 x Power Lance 3 x Power Sword Grey Stalker Pack 255 Bolters Artificer Armour, Power Axe, Meltabombs 2 Power Axe 2 Power Swords 2 Plasma Guns Drop Pod Grey Stalker Pack 270 Bolters Artificer Armour, Power Fist, Meltabombs 2 Power Axe 2 Power Swords 2 Plasma Guns Drop Pod Seeker Squad 180 6 Seekers Artificer Armour Drop Pod Xiphon 105 Kharbydis 235 Speaker of the Dead rolls with the Slayers in the Kharbydis. I guess with this my concern is Armour heavy lists as the Xiphon may not turn up for ages and if they focus on the Contemptor my other units won't be able to do much.
