I have been following 30k since Calth was released, but this is my first list since the new addition. Wanted to build a nice 'starter' force (i.e. low points, easy to build, paint and use in a game with plenty of scope to expand up to 2000 and 3000 points respectively) from the new boxed set with a few extras added in. The Forge World Word Bearers Praetor is on the way, and will be adding the plastic Sicaran to this once it's released to round it off. Everything else can be built from the starter set as well as a Rhino and Special Weapons upgrade frame, all of which has just arrived this week.

I have always been much more into the narrative of 30k, and like to represent this in my list building. As a result, composition is partly units I like, and partly stuff that fits my chosen Legion and theme. The theme for this force is late Heresy, Solar Wars. Specifically, the Word Bearers and Sons of Horus' joint assault on Luna. Haven't been able to find a lot of info on the Luna War, so I have imagined this as a landing force on the surface that would push to take the factories and hab-cities on the surface.

What do you guys think? How would one expand the force from here?

The only thing that raises concern for me is a lack of anti-big units in close combat. The +1 Str from the chain bayonets and krak grenades makes more things woundable, but still an up hill fight if they get charged by a dreadnought (where the Fear won't help). You may want a powerfist or thunderhammer on the Tactical Squad Sergeants if you can free up the points.

What warlord trait were you thinking of using?
