What do the sponsons on Thunderstrikes carry?

The little sponsons on the thunderstrike don’t carry a weapon like the others, has any lore mentioned what it is they carry?

my theory is they’re some sort of targeting sensor, and that’s technically what gives it the 2+ BS the other variants don’t have.

my reasoning is despite this applying to all the weapons, it reminds me of a laser designator used to guide certain bombs and missiles to their target, and the under wing missile simply remind me of point hellfire missiles.

can anyone confirm this?

They are defiantly a targeting laser of some sort. But why dose it matter? It's not listed in their wargear so I made one without the side turrets all together.

It’s a topic to discuss because I’ve heard quite a few people comment on how it makes no sense for one variant to have a better BS

Targeting system definitely- they looks similar to the one on top of the Firestrike Servo-turret's blast shield, which also has a BS 2+.

probably something that  adds +1 to BS - Thunderstrike has better BS than other Storm Speeder variants.

Could be a tik-tok augur too....
