Was just thinking of a trio of figures based on the Draco covers as an Inquisitorial warband.

May actually get a real Squat as well and not the bland tasteless Votann.

I'd be all over any models based off the mid-2000s Black Templar concept art.

Lots of bits of inspiration was taken from here for what we did get though. But yeah, I'd kill to get any of those wholesale. Especially the neophyte

I'm going to say a Black Templar model, probably for Warhammer day in October or something.

Your poor, endlessly-abused NDA...

This is an interesting topics to be fair and one that recently had some light shed on it by two ex ‘Eavy metal painters

I was watching Infernal brushes stream where he had Martin Peterson on [Both guys are super talented and seem really nice btw you should watch the streams if you don’t] and they were talking about the “Commemorative Series” and the freedom it gives to the sculptors to do something completely different than normal for something you couldn’t normally do for a main faction release

…they also said they’ve been sat on the new WE terminator for over 2 years

Personally im hoping for an Inquisitor model although some of the suggestions above have been great

first go around, a Vindicare in a rather scenic setting and a pretty plain AoS orc
second time, old and like artpiece and a flavourful  band of chaos person with characterful familiars
definitely a step up from the first year

nice to see they aren't doing the primaris lieutenant + stormcast guy routine
going forward, maybe they will repeat and have one mini off artwork and another quirkier one, who knows, maybe 40k gets a Jokaero monkey madness one next year
may be interesting to see if HH gets thrown into the mix now that it is supposedly a mainline game

Oh what's that art in Codex Imperialis of a Chaos dude with quote about things that go bump in the night? I might be going crazy and mixing things up but my books are no where to be seen.

And I was thinking, maybe a Legion of the Damned flame boy. That might be quite sought after!

Iirc they were also sat on Crowe for two years prior to the Hexfire reveal and usually work a year in advance.

Does give an idea of how messed up the release schedule might be due to Covid.

Plastic LOTD would be awesome in general. The old models were classics and the 2011(?) sculpts were absolutely great, but even putting aside scale creep they're OOP and are either pricey metal or
>Finecast
which really sucks as I'd love to see them return. Also by their very nature a hypothetical return with kits and a Codex supplement would have to be Firstborn as you can't give surgery to ghosts.

Seriously though. The sergeant pictured here is pure late-metal goodness. (The flamer chap too, of course- that brazier backpack!)

Yeh big time it hit me when all the HH sprues had 2021 on them so we should have probably got them the summer before

If only... There are some great Inquisitors in the old art, though I am happy with the recent Inquisitor from the Store Anniversary this year. Too bad Inquisition forces are so crappy to play right now. I'd love to get a redone Karamazov or any of a plethora of other Inquisitors/Interrogators/random cool dudes.

3. Novel/Black Library inspiration. Think any of the previously mentioned characters (Ravenor, Bequin, Commissar Cain, etc...)made into model form. This is the least likely option in my view, as it seems that GW has lately been doing this on their own- Eisenhorn, Valerian/Aleya, Gaunt's Ghosts, Uriel Ventris, have all gotten models in the past few years. It seems that if your novel series is truly successful, GW/BL will make a model of it to cash in on the success.

Would be real nice to see some of ADB's characters available as minis, Iskandar Khayon would be high on my wishlist.

An updated version of this would be nice, I used to have a Smurf on toilet mini as a kid and it would be nice to see it reimagined like the new HH beakies.

Wouldnt mind seeing this as a display piece actually.

A single reimagined Legion of the Damned warrior, as a foreshadowing of them returning as a fullfledged 40k army, led by "Master of Mankind" Ghost Rider version of Ferrus Manus. Instabuying an annual sub!

Never mind the annual mini, GW could do a lot worse than revisiting its roots as a models company (as it still professes to be) by putting out these sort of character models on a semi-regular basis (say quarterly).  Figures based on just about any of the artwork and/or updates of older models would certainly get my cash.

Definitely doesn't have to be based on art or anything else.

On that basis, I wouldn't be surprised of the next Warhammer+ or GW event exclusive is likely Votann in nature.

I have the slight suspicion the Next GROMBRINDAL we will get, will be in Leagues of Votann Armor. ;D

Atleast that would make absolute sense.

I'd definitely be down for new LOTD returning to the Space Marine codex- I'd say give them individual unit entries in the 'dex so they can be added to a "normal" army, and also include rules for a full LOTD army if you so desire.

In terms of their models, if they go with the original Fire Hawks origins, they need to be all Firstborn. Can't do surgery on a ghost after all. If they go with the newer "Vengeful spirits of the slain" vibe I'd actually do the units as a mix of Primaris and Firstborn (with no mechanical differences between the two), suggesting that the recently fallen will rub armoured shoulders with heroes of centuries past. (Could even give them Cultist analogues in the form of guardsmen who march alongside them!) I'd also make them a smidge more "supernatural" than the previous models, which were awesome but mostly just seemed to be regular Marines in cool armour. If the painted on flame was actual sculpted fire effects (not too much!) and there were some very subtle hints in the sculpt that they weren't quite normal, even if it was just making them look a bit more decrepit than usual, that'd be amazing. They don't need to be full-on "undead" in design but just make them that very little bit otherworldly, as opposed to just Marines imitating Chaplains with 90s flames.

As for the subscriber model though, Centurius without a doubt.
