Lord Krungharr
I made some old Berzerkers into Mortalis Destroyers with all dual bolt pistols and 2 rad missile launchers. I was thinking well maybe I should put some power lances on them too.....but then I looked and they can't get multiple power weapons like the Destroyer Assault Squads (who have jump packs). Really seems like a typo mistake in the rule book that they lack the power weapon options, but are the Mortalis guys even worth taking at all then? Guess for Raven Guard, I could infiltrate/outflank them for rad shots? Elites are a competitive slot though. Maybe good for an allied detachment instead that doesn't need Elites (like Iron Hands, who I was just planning on a Forgelord, Tacticals, melta bikers, Leviathan). They look so neat with the dual pistols. Very action packed. SkimaskMohawk
The mortalis are a version that are more dedicated shooting support; instead of the power weapons, they can do disintgrators and grav guns. You unfortunately can't do non-jump pack assault destroyers any more, and it seems a bit lopsided that assaults can do a power weapon and launcher per 5 while mortalis can only do one special weapon per 5. Other than the guns, the only interesting hook they have is access to the termite. That comes with a 3 shot melta gun and deepstrike, so that's something. Lord Krungharr
Gonna have to put my reading glasses on. Didn't realize the Mortalis unit can take graviton and disintegrators. With grav guns in Iron Hands they could get grav shredders, which are interesting. Xenith
The rad missile is worth it's weight in unobtainium - my opponents come from 9th so have a habit of bunching models, that I remind them about verbally, and then in-game with a rad missile to packed tactical squad. AP3 and fleshbane is great, they've also done some work on the countercharge now they have a chainsword as standard for shred and counterattack - they punch above their weight for sure. 2A base, 2ccw, rad grenades and shred puts wounds on things. Lord Krungharr
I sure do like that the rad missiles are assault weapons at half-range! With Raven Guard and Corax they could be Outflanking, which is pretty appealing for them. Now I'm rethinking it....laid out some arms and weapons to convert mine to Mor Deythans. But perhaps I'll just get some new guys for the latter. The old Berzerker bodies I used for the Mortalis unit are running/dancing and doesn't seem like Mor Deythans would get around so wildly like that.
