How do you counter other BA armies?

I very rarely play other BA armies, but every time I do, I realise just how intimidating they can be. Especially when there are DC units, or extra movement Ancients!!

With AOC, this is even scarier now!!

I think the answer to this question is really dependent on too many variables.

Questions we'd need to ask are:

1. What can Infiltrate?

2. What can redeploy?

3. Are there DC?

4. What's in reserve?

5. What secondaries are my opponents playing?

6. How much shooting does the opponent have?

There will be no catch all, but, there are a few key points to fighting us.

1.  Charge, dont be charged.  - On account of us hitting as hard as we do, we're not likely to survive the charge.  Place accordingly.  In the event you need to be on an objective or area and will face a counter charge, ensure that there is a character nearby for Angels Sacrifice, if you need the unit to survive more!

2. Watch your trades. - We are likely to play a VERY "tradey" game with BA vs BA, trading units for objectives or points.  This will be impacted and compounded by the shooting support our army has - allowing us to take a combined arms approach.  Pure assault BA is strong - arguably the strongest build - but is one dimensional and as a result requires finesse.  Shooting support allows us or the opponent to not risk trades that eventually come down to who gets the first charge!

3. Consolidate into assault, where possible/Protracted Combat - Consolidating into BA is the worst.  A DC mode with a hammer loses +1 to wound AND loses THREE attacks (after turn 2) if they are consolidated into. This is a HUGE blow to them.  Assault intercessors go from 5 to 3 attacks, too.  Make use of Hate on the Chaplain - the second part of the +2" to charge is often ignored/forgotten !!! The additional pile-in AND consolidate is JUST as valuable as the +2" to charge.

Hope that helps!
