I am in need of something better for backfield Objective camping. I have been relying on a trusty old Tactical squad with Grav Cannon but it really is not cutting the mustard in 9th edition. The bolters are often out of range and lack punch. My 2 main contenders are a squad of Intercessors with Stalker Bolt Rifles or a squad of Eliminators. Here are the relative benefits I can think of.

Intercessors: More wounds and more shots. ObjSec. Fill Troop tax

Eliminators: Better quality shots. 1+ save with AoC in cover is a pain to shift. Cheaper.

I am hesitantly leaning towards the Eliminators at the moment but I am still undecided. Putting them on an Objective feels like a waste of their Infiltration abilities and Objective camping seems like a waste of the move-shoot-move shenanigans with the Carbine. I would welcome anyone's experience on the subject.

I used both in a recent grow league, and I think if I was going to do it again I'd take the Intercessors with stalkers for the backfield role. They were more survivable in general, even with the Eliminators' cloak buffs in cover, especially when the enemy managed to deepstrike something in the backfield. Their damage output was fairly decent and even with deepstriking enemies the ObSec buff meant that as long as they survived the initial combat I was holding the objective (most deepstriking enemies I faced did not have Obsec).

HIs?

heavy intercessors with their T5 they’re hard to shift off the objective, and they have long range shooting available and have the hvy bolter options to make the weight of fire even heavier

the executor variants have the range to reach across the board, great AP and damage.

since you’re considering SBRs you’re clearly not worried about number of shots so the executors hit hard, and from ranges few other infantry units can contest.
