Dude I don’t mean this in a nasty way but honestly read the books/lore if you’re interested this is such a gross “Reddit/4Chan” oversimplification of their battle together and what it means in a deeper context regarding selfless sacrifice at a knowing demise

Horus has the Mark of Chaos Ascendant at this point, Sanguinius doesn’t appear weak at any point he appears stronger for accepting his knowing fate - Horus literally kills the Emperor after

I don't know if a timeline was ever given but there was not a long time between the Ultimate Gate and the teleport strike on the Vengeaful Spirit. Sanguinius had been fighting more or less continuously since the start of the Siege. Swooping in to turn crucial engagements, holding the Ultimate Gate single-handed and taking down a Blood Thirster (or Angron IIRC in the revised version).

If you want to see Sanguinius being awesome, check out "Saturnine". He destroys a Warlord Titan in melee so messily that escorting Warhounds literally turn around and run away from him. He had been fighting the most powerful foes on the battlefield for weeks with rest or respite. Horus on the other hand was fresh and fully juiced-up with the power of all 4 Chaos Gods. It would not have been a fair fight, even if Sanguinius was fresh. Sangiunius sees his death multiple times in Ruinstorm and in each vision he tries a different way to beat Horus. The only vision where he wins is the one where he turns to Chaos himself and he accepts that is too high a price to pay.

echoes of eternity helps make glorious hawk boi look a lot less like a :cuss: compared to Horus.

If you think that Sangy looks like a [whatever your original comment was] was next to Horus, then you haven't understood any of the source material from the past 40 years. As above, Sangy had been fighting constantly for months by this point, and was fresh from smiting, what, 8 Bloodthirsters including Ka'Bhanda, while Horus hadn't lifted a finger. It was never a fight that Sangy could win, he knew that, but he went anyway, out of duty, and even held his own, for a moment, opening a weakness in Horus's armour hat enraged the monster.

Could do without the Echoes of Eternity spoilers dudes, the book isnt even in a lot of people's hands yet and just out.

Fair point, which I agree with, but if it reassures you the 'spoilers' above are largely innacurate.

Sanguinius and self sacrifice for the betterment of all. It's what makes the Blood Angels so compelling to me.

The light and heart of the Imperium was extinguished.

Sanguinius knew he was doomed going in... yet he still went. It was the right thing to do and in the end helped prevent the destruction of the entire Imperium.

I love it, even though I miss the idea of our Primarch returning in 40K, it's what makes my favorite chapter so tragic and inspiring.

Unsure which posts you reference? I'm going off established lore, not EoE.

Apparently the Siege of Terra lasted for 55 days from the start of the bombardment to the death of Horus. Sanguinius had been fighting on the front lines for much of that time, not just holding the Ultimate Gate. That is nearly 2 months of solid fighting against opponents up to the scale of Warlord Titans. He was also holding it together in the face of increasingly violent and painful visions.

They also say time is becoming malleable during the seige so it might have been even longer

Some characters' subjective time is all over the place. For example, how long has Dorn been in his "desert" while the Vengeful Spirit teleport action has been going on? To him, it seems to be quite a while. The time (and space)-related weirdness is increasing as the story nears its conclusion, this will perhaps facilitate normally "impossible" situations/plot twists.

Yes, in fact I think the earlier 55 day duration might have been retconned. Sanguinius states that they have been fighting for 200 days during Echoes of Eternity. We have seen Sanguinius leading from the front in virtually every book since Lost and the Damned. That means he has been fighting more or less constantly for over 6 months!
