Hail Fraters,

I've recently dug out my old CSM and I'd like to field them again.

I dont play competitive but still want a list that can do some "stuff".

Most of the time though I play gainst my sons' Death Guard. Those are not really optimized (no terminators or PBC for instance) but we just want to have a decent game while we kill each other.

I have the following models:

Old chaos lord (that metal dude with the powerfist in the air)

Fabius Bile + retinue (old as well as new)

Deamon prince (metal!) wings + sword

20-30 CSM (ok, legionairres) with various equipment. Some heavy bolters/chaincannons, etc. Have enough left over models to make some (10?) possesed.

2 dreads with scourge (also metal :-) )

Predator with lascannons all the way (3rd edition I think)

30+ terminators (metal! If you sense a theme now, you might be right) with varous equipment

a Tzeentch csm, usable as sorcerer or whatever wizard is the most useful.

No cultists at the moment altough I might use a bloodbowlteam (3rd edition)/old WHFB minis as substitute cultists. If needed.

I'd like to have a blob of terminators and use a dread. Or 2. And perhaps the DP. I'd probably need the cultists then or I run into a troopshortage (or use too much points).

And Bile. I'd really like to use Bile.

1000-1250-1500? points, 50 PL or perhaps 60. Our normal gaming table is the kitchentable, it's slightly smaller than normal. But that's the way it is, and the reason we play smaller games. Also, big games cost a LOT of time. Espescially if you're not a regular gamer and still have to look up rules.

Paint scheme at the moment is pink/purple with gold trim. So it looks like EC but I dont have any sonic weapons, however I'd gladly take the Slaanesh mark.

Any takers?

Jam, you have a lot of core melee units which synergize well with Creations of Bile. I've found my CoB lists pretty much like to rush forward to get into melee (while leaving a couple of small units back on objectives in my deployment zone). Shooting is best left to other factions.

There are many possible CoB lists you could create with your models but one list is:

HQ
• Daemon Prince upgraded to your tastes (180ish points)
• Fabius Bile (90ish points)  I am so glad that Bile no longer has to be wholly within 6 inches of the squad he is buffing. That was such a pain! Now he just has to be within 3 inches of at least one model in the unit. In competitive games marks and icons are probably more effective than Bile's buff. But I get an odd glee out of buffing up a 2 to 3 squads with his ability so I prefer to leave some units Chaos Undivided.
• Master of Possession buffed to your tastes (120ish points) Using your Tzeenchian Sorcerer model and the Mark of Tzeench would let him use the stratagem that lets a psyker cast a spell and also complete a psychic action. He could also use Skein of Fate to buff the Helbrutes.

TROOPS
• Large "assault" squad of 10 chainsword Legionaries, upgraded to your tastes, although a powerfist and chainaxe would be nice. Consider leaving this Squad Undivided so it can be buffed by Bile (200ish points) Altough a Mark and Icon of Khorne would make them very choppy and lets you use the Khorne stratagem that let's you deny on a 4+.
• Backfield objective camper squad of 5 Legionaries with heavy bolter (100ish points)
• Backfield objective camper squad of 12 Bloodbowl Cultists (60ish points)

ELITES
• 8 Possessed (230ish points) these suckers really want to be buffed by Bile on Turn 1
• 10 Terminators upgraded with various and sundry but no Marks so they can be buffed (370ish points)
• 10 Terminators upgraded with various and sundry but give them your favorite mark so they can operate upfield away from Bile (390ish points)
• Helbrute with multimelta, scourge, and Mark of Tzeench (130ish points)
• Helbrute with multimelta, scourge, and Mark of Tzeench (130ish points)

Total=2000ish points
Number of models=60

Tactics:
1. Manuever forward with the 3 characters: Bile, DP, and MoP.
2. Also move forward with the 3 assault infantry units: Khorne Legionaires, unmarked Termie Squad, and Possessed Squad.
3. Shove the Helbrutes upfield as well.
The 'Brutes are really just cheap distraction carnifexes but they might survive long enough to use the CoB "fleet of foot" stratagem. The 'Brutes' multimeltas also provide your list with a wee bit of ranged shooting.
4. Keep the heavy bolter Legionaires Squad and Cultists back on objectives.
5. Deep strike the marked Terminators squad.

In casual games this list should do fine, especially if there is a decent amount of line-of-sight blocking terrain.  :)

Changed from black to white text so readable

Slight side note might wanna check your base sizes allot has changed since 3rd.

I'd take the nurgle prince with the nurgle deamon weapon, for the warlord trait either twisted regen, hatred incarnate or unholy fortitude.

Yes! Thanks Tallarn  Exactly what I was looking for.

As for the bases: most CSMarines are already on a 32 mm base, IIRC termies should go on a 40 mm. So I will do that, and see what base size the rest should get. GW themselves are probably the best source (I'll look up what their normal models are on and adjust accordingly).

Thanks!
