Heya, first sons of Horus list trying to understand and make use of the long march rite, still trying to work out if it's better to take tartaros or cataphractii due to the detachment limitations around heavy units.

I'm just a little bit lost on how to push this list up to 2 and eventually 3k points. Would really value some advice, cheers.

Current list is as follows

So a couple of thoughts:

Just because you have the movement buff for infantry in the Rite, this shouldn’t put you off tanks or cavalry entirely. Either would be a good way to add some fun to your force, which looks based around the boxed set.

I don’t see why you shouldn’t have *both* cataphractii and Tartaros. However … 10 paired lightning claws might look fearsome on paper (and look really cool on the table), but is your opponent going to give you a big power armoured unit for them to mince? And will 10 x 40mm bases really all get to fight? So sticking them in a Spartan seems a trap. They might not even make their points back anyway, especially arriving late, but you can’t use them to dominate the board unless transported. You might have to think about smaller unit/cheaper tank/mixed weapons/sneaky teleport trick from somewhere.

But in general I think you’ve already got the theme going, so don’t be ashamed to support this block with the units that appeal to you. Perhaps something that will deal with the dreads and tanks coming the other way? Some melta somewhere for example?
