Brother Kraskor
Been rattling round a few list iterations. Would be grateful for your thoughts. Captain Lucius (185) Warlord, No Laer Blade, Sonic Shrieker Tartaros Herald (135) Thunder Hammer, Grenade harness, Sonic Shrieker Champion (135) Jump pack, Paragon blade, Sonic Shrieker Tartaros Terminator Squad (292) 8 men, vexilla, 4 power fists, 3 lightning claws, 1 volkite charger Contemptor Talon (360) 2 dreads, both melta cannon & CCW Palatine Blades (355) 10 men, 6 power axes, 4 phoenix spears Apothecarion (235) 4 men, 1 jump pack, 4 artificer armour Tactical Squad (120) 10 men, Phoenix spear, vexilla Assault Squad (170) 10 men, power fist, artificer armour Kratos (410) Flashburn shells, 4 lascannon, flare shield Sunkillers (325) 8 men, augury scanner Kakophoni (275) 10 men 2997pts Rough plan Open Blade: Tartaros present main roadblock with Herald, counter-chargers/frontline holders keeping the opponent off my backline. Backline consists of Tacticals, Kratos, Sunkillers, and Kakophoni (latter two each taking an Apothecary). Hopefully a robust amount of shooting from all that. Hidden Blade: Palatines with Lucius and both Contemptors will Outflank Turn 2. Palatines take an Apothecary. I'm hoping they will hit mega hard, lots of AP2, lots of Murderous Strike, making even enemy WS5 hit them on 6s. Contemptors take enemy armour. Flexible: Assault marines and Champion plus final Apothecary. These can join the Hidden Blade, or they can Deep strike (though this means they might not arrive until later), or they can deploy as normal as a counter-charger. dicebod
I like the thinking here, but the biggest thing that sticks out to me is that you don't have a whole lot in the way of scoring, even with the Herald. Plus, he's not impossible to snipe out leaving you with a terminator squad that your opponent can probably just ignore or shoot at their leisure. darkseren1ty
2 squads of line troops. Not good for a 3k point game. Unless you plan to table everyone- you’re going to lose the objective game. Thanks both, I think you're right. I wonder do I drop the Apothecarion entirely and go for two more 10-man Tac squads? I'd lose durability across the board but come up to 5 Line units. I'd be loathe to cut an offensive capability so maybe this is the way forward. So this: Captain Lucius (185) Warlord, No Laer Blade, Sonic Shrieker Tartaros Herald (135) Thunder Hammer, Grenade harness, Sonic Shrieker Champion (135) Jump pack, Paragon blade, Sonic Shrieker Tartaros Terminator Squad (290) 8 men, 4 power fists, 3 lightning claws, vexilla Contemptor Talon (360) 2 dreads, both melta cannon & CCW Palatine Blades (355) 10 men, 6 power axes, 4 phoenix spears Tactical Squad (120) 10 men, Phoenix spear, vexilla Tactical Squad (120) 10 men, Phoenix spear, vexilla Tactical Squad (120) 10 men, Phoenix spear, vexilla Assault Squad (170) 10 men, power fist, artificer armour Kratos (410) Flashburn shells, 4 lascannon, flare shield Sunkillers (325) 8 men, augury scanner Kakophoni (275) 10 men 3000pts Edited September 15, 2022 by Brother Kraskor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/375856-3k-emperors-children-maru-skara/#findComment-5866254 Share on other sites

Unfortunately, best I can tell, these attached characters can no longer Outflank/Flank Assault with The Maru Skara. In Anuj's wisdom, he deleted the "and attached independent characters" from the RoW in the new version (which was in the prior Red Book version).
