So I've got into the dark. This is my first KT box. Why so many different base sizes. 1 32mm, 10 28mm (which suck to find) and 13 25mm . 3 different base sizes... and now I am trying to source necromunda or likewise bases for them and it's not been easy. The bases they come with are just the plain old black bases. You'd think they'd come with space ship theme'd bases but they don't. And that is my base rant. why  not just all 28mm call it a day. except for the 1 guy who needs a 32.

The 25mm bases are for the guardsmen and the "non-ork" ork models, the 28mm are for the bulk of the orks, and the 32mm is for the nob.

Its to match the 40K base sizes, where orks got an enlarged base because a 25mm really does look too small on them.

As for their being bog-standard black bases, I can't say for sure why other than all the kill team bases have been that way - it may be because kill team has traditionally been seen as simply an extension of 40K (and therefore based as 40K models are based) even though they no longer share an essential ruleset.  For Necromunda, they may have gone with different bases to set themselves apart from 40K as their own thing, and they don't share any models with 40K which perhaps gave them more freedom to do so.

Does anyone know if the newest killteam set based on the starship come with themed bases, or are they all the standard black ones as well?

Whoops Dr_R ... he got "Into the Dark" not "Octarius" :tongue:...

@INKS

The Kroot come on three medium-sized sprues like Ork Kommandos and Aeldari Corsairs and make ten Kroot and two Kroot hounds. The models come on 28 mm bases, with a 32 mm base for the Kill-broker (the Kill Team leader)

So that leaves the 25mm bases for the Navy Breachers...

I play with friends who are quite "game friendly" so i am putting all the Kroot onto 32 mm Necromunda bases and he's using the necromunda 25's  when we measure were just cutting back by 4mm if it's a close measure :sweat:

That way the models look super cool and all the same as well... We just have to remember the measurement rule :whistling:

Good luck with your Box of Killteam...it's a Blast to play and post up pics as you go!!

Cheers, M

Not all the breachers are on 25mm bases - the Endurant (with the boarding shield) is on a 28mm, and iirc one of the others is as well. Make sure you check your assembly instructions.
As for getting ship deck themed bases for them... it's awkward. Sector Mechanicus or Necromunda bases are a good solution, but it's difficult to get the size and quantity you want. If you have the patience for it, though, there are some great guides to making your own with plasticard.

Thanks, Not sure what to do about 28s to be honest. I'll make my own I guess. I've got some 3rd party for my intercession squad which are ok. not great but ok. I'm not really into either team right now so I might shelve them for a while. I like small simple teams right now (beginner noob) Less to think about, less to do, and so on.
