Dreads/vehicles firing in melee

I havent been able to find anything specific referencing shooting attacks in melee for vehicles and dreads in heresy2. Did they carry over the ability to fire non-blast weapons when engaged from 9e?

I saw the "pistols count as melee weapons" for infantry, so it doesnt look like they have the pistols fire in melee bit, but I do recall seeing something about tanks firing their defensive weapons at units their engaged with, but the main weapons at stuff they're not engaged with, does that interact with dreads at all?

I dont have my books in front of me, but if you've got a page number I can check then when I get off work.
Thanks!

Upon review of the "Locked in Combat" rules, it looks like vehicles just get to leave, so only dreadnoughts really care.

And I should have put this in the rules section rather than tactica, apologies for that. I have been away for a good while and hadnt seen the new structure.

Heresy doesn't have anything to do with 8th or 9th 40k. It's based on the earlier 3rd-7th system.

While true, we have to remember that a lot of people got into the hobby with 8th, so might not have played with those systems.

@Nykidemus from what I can see, dreads get locked in combat and cannot fire weapons there, while vehicles can never be locked in combat and thus the no shooting in combat rules don't apply, as they're not technically in combat - they can fire away at anything in base to base with them.

Remember however that models in B2B contact attack in all combat phases, so if you don't move you vehicle out of B2B with the enemy models, they will attack you in your own combat phase.
