I really like that this is an infantry-heavy list which rings the changes, and has plenty of heresy goodness like volkite.

I feel like you will still meet dreads and possibly armour at 1k unless you are explicitly playing Centurion, and that means you probably wouldn’t lose a lot by making the dread and landspeeder a bit more specialist. Eg drop the havoc and upgrade the heavy bolter to a grav gun?

is the Delegatus bringing a Rite of War? Otherwise you could drop that upgrade to enable a couple more in the squads eg vexilla, a scanner, artificer armour (not that I am a fan of sergeants in artificer armour, mixed armour units slow the game, but you will see why it’s popular).

All excellent points, and I concur.

I agree with the Havoc. Havocs usually end up being points filler for me more than anything else. Trimming it, and possibly that sarge plasma pistol would let you get a MM on one of those rhinos for example, since that's a lot of points invested into one squad sergeant. AKA, even more ripe for being targeted by precision shots on top of already being so in smaller games.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I’ll have a think about how to trim a few points down in places and then add them back in elsewhere.

A lot of people seem to like multi-melta equipped rhinos, but I’m always worried the Rhinos might get popped early on and not make their points back. Maybe I’m not seeing the nuances though.

as for the Delegatus, I was mostly curious about the Rally the Legion rule - it seems like it could be a good way to bring some units back into the fight, but maybe it’s too niche?

The only Rite of War that makes sense to this force is The Long March but is it really going to be that useful? Two squads are in Rhinos, one can infiltrate, the dreadnought and the support squad would get extra movement… hmm…

I would never think of incidental equipment like pintles "making points back".  They're usually strapped to something as a "nice to have" rather than something to plan and invest around always doing its job.  Another AV(Anti-dread too) option in your list that you can try to use, rather than "rely on to carry the day."  When I'm fielding all three of my rhinos (bigger 2500-3500 games) I always put a MM on each for that purpose. One at 1k pts is fine~

Rally the Legion can be rather clutch. It has saved my bacon once already when two squads that were necessary to push a flank got pinned.

As for the RoW. Long march is good. You're only getting a positive from it since you don't have any "Heavy" units, so might as well enjoy the bonus movement if you've got a delegatus already, aka, get a RoW.

Thanks for the perspective, I had already planned to magnetise a few Rhino options so I definitely have no issue trying out the MM, and seeing how much I like having it on there.

I'll also experiment with a Delegatus vs. a standard Consul and see what I get on with the most.
