Brother Clavero
I was looking into painting a small Night Lords force but when I searched the net for unit organization, different colours on shoulder pads, etc. . All I could find were a few pics from the Forgeworld books but nothing that really explained what I'm after. Is there any site that I can go to find this information? SkimaskMohawk
There's not really any good sites. A couple of wikis, but if they don't have what you're after, then you're a bit out of luck. The thing with the nightlords is that they can be as strict or loose with markings as you want. Do you want disciplined soldiers that are veterans of the crusade? They had that. How about a loose mob of individualistic killers? They had that too. UtariOnzo
To add to the above, out of the legions the Nightlords fall somewhere towards the disorganised end of the spectrum, especially post thramas. There isn’t a lot of detailed lore or art/colour plates going into the minutia of Nightlord organisation, just snippets from novels and some of the heraldry examples from the black books/liber hereticus. This means you have a lot of freedom to come up with your own organisation and marking standards for your force! Brother Clavero
Thank you for the replies! It was confusing to me seeing the different colours being used, especially the white (grey?) torso armour in one pic. SkimaskMohawk
I'd recommend acquiring books 2 and 9 of 1st edition if you want to find out the most about the legion. They give all the context that the wikis don't. Corswain
Per above the Black Books are great. I just treat them as an inspirational starting point though - there is enough room in the Heresy to do pretty much whatever you like. My Night Lords have a standard blue colour scheme but there are individuals with red, black and silver shoulder pads, different colour knee pads for squad markings and a Chaplain with a silver torso. Honestly, most of them come about as cover-ups for painting disasters but none of them look out of place and I head-canon them as campaign badges etc. Brother Clavero 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376443-night-lords-organization/#findComment-5881353 Share on other sites
LameBeard
There is a great thread on this forum where a frater has created their own Night Lords organisation for their company. I don’t know how much is based on lore and how much their own imagination, but it is EPIC. You know the one, with the black on red silhouettes showing the force composition, and the emblem which is similar to a rhino skull. Please someone link the thread! Pearson73
Here you go! They are also on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/massgravestudios/ where they might be slightly more active. I understand they're taking a slight hobby pause due to moving house etc. Gamiel, LameBeard, Warden-Paints and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376443-night-lords-organization/#findComment-5881662 Share on other sites
