Weyland - Yutani Corp.

Greetings fellow Kindred,

 

Firstly,

So disappointed that they didn't do Bugmann as a Pioneer Votann Xmas model. 

 

So, having brought the special Ed box, I came across my eternal dilemma of colour scheme and remembered the mega Corp Weyland-Yutani. Researched a bit more for colour scheme. They don't really have a scheme except the logo(the 'W' one) which is yellow,black and grey. They also have the logo which is a blue/turquoise colour.

 

They also have a colour scheme for rank in the Corp which is as follows:

Gold- Captain

Silver- exec officers 

Light Blue- officers

Dark Green/white- crew 

Black or Red- medics

 

So my only problem was applying the Yellow Black and grey scheme.

 

My thoughts: 

Armour as yellow with black thin lines between the armour plates.

The clothing as grey.

 

Now getting to the pioneers, then the other larger armoured models it's going to have a wasp look which may me think further about the out lay.

 

The rank scheme was going to be a thin line across the left breast as per the rank colour.

 

I'd like some other ideas towards applying the scheme or anyone have more info on the colours of mega Corp weyland yutani.

If I may, I would suggest black armour, grey overalls/working suits and some kind of yellow accent like yellow stripes on shoulder pads or something. 

All of the Weyland Yutani stuff I find is is working colours like greys, greens and black with WY symbols so you can use yellow but more sparingly.

funny coming across this, i was just binging the special edition trilogy last night.

 

i think your initial scheme will make some people confused, as it looks too similar to Trans-hyperian alliance. anyone who has trouble with color recognition/color blindness might mistake it for THA.  plus i dunno if you'd be one of the few with the patience to sit and paint that much yellow; it's something that discourages alot of would-be imperial fist players afterall.

 

 

 

 

 

now that said, if we explore the colors you found for their jumpsuits, you could go this way:

 

option 1 being the top row, where the cloth changes based on their roles, matching the colors you found.  Option 2, bottom row, is based roughly on what i recall being used in the comics years ago when they wore their space suits.  but the ones im recalling used a....i think it was an orangey color for the plate because it was a rescue/recovery team.  but the cloth and stripes are done otherwise the same.  and their helmets had a matching thick stripe down the middle.

 

my personal taste would be the bottom row guys.

The black and grey is good with yellow accents, maybe a W on the armour sone wear and then the rank colours on the shoulder pad.

 

Dusktiger, I agree the bottom row look good.

 

I'll try and get a test model done and post it in the next couple of days.

You could use the returning colours of the Nostromo crew as inspiration, based on this (not the best) photo I would say that they are mostly dark-ish blue/grey-blue and white.

 

Also, if you use Nostromo crew as inspiration do I suggest having something that nods toward Jones, maybe use phelynx, gyrinx, and/or phyrr cats
