Does anyone know how to paint the loyalist word bearer colours??

Per the attached image. I can find loads of mid heresy colour guides, but none from when they were still loyalist

Maybe check out PH space wolf schemes? They're both variations on the grey.

You could try to find Ashen Circle paint schemes. I think Dawnstone or some analogous grey is the typical base color used for that.

Yeah, the official scheme for Ashen Circle is Mechanicus Standard Grey, Agrax wash, and Dawnstone highlight.

I always thought that was too bright. Maybe with some weathering or some Basilicanum Grey to bring the color down?

 

Alternatively, I always saw the original ceramite as either slate grey or more shiny depending on how polished it was. Two other legions were also noted as using unpainted ceramite. The original Dusk Raider scheme is not polished and is bit darker than the Word Bearer scheme:

 

 

The original 4th legion scheme is more polished:

 

 

I got something like that by using Leadbelcher spray, Basilicanum Grey, and Nuln Oil (actually a black oil paint wash, but pretty darn close):

 

 

The Imperial Herald/Word Bearer scheme seems similar, but more matte, so maybe go with something like Leadbelcher, Basilicanum Grey, Agrax Earthshade, matte varnish.
