This is the most customization we’ve had in all of the editions I’ve been involved with lack of options for characters was a thing 8th for marines at least, and just seems to be the direction the game is going. kitbashes and custom armies are still 100% legal in the game even in tournaments. if you have a gaming group you play with you can agree to do nearly anything, if you made all of your infantry out of orlock models I doubt you’ll regularly have problems using them in games with randoms, even tournaments you could use them…so what’s the issue exactly that you’re having? Feel free to show me where I can find rules to make Veterans, or anyone above the Rank of Colonel, or support vehicles, or Sabre batteries, Drop Troops, Reconnaissance Teams, etc. I'd sure love to love this edition and can't find the things that make me love 40k. 10th could be really cool, but only if it embraces granularity and lets you micromanage if you want to. The Veterans I agree with, but those others were in Forgeworld books. Not sure what support vehicles you are speaking about either, is it the Trojan? Drop Troops were part of the main Guard army from Armageddon until 8th. gaurdian31 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376726-can-the-recent-codexes-hint-at-things-to-come-in-10th/page/2/#findComment-5891219 Share on other sites

Ah, see I was thinking that you were talking about the Elisyian drop troops, which again, as far as I am aware were only sold by Forgeworld. We have 3 new datasheets of veteran troops. recon teams can be like anything, but we have a specific rule for recon units, and a very specific sneaky recon unit as well. drop troops? Scions im sure support vehicles and Sabre batteries are in IA or something like all the other irregular vehicles. Inquisitor_Lensoven
What’s the votann codex look like in terms of points and upgrades? seems like most guard units are a set point value with multiple options/upgrades free, and only a few upgrades that cost points. Has this format occurred in any of the other recent codexes? Karhedron
Not really. If you look at other recent codices like Votann and Chaos Marines, there are lots of upgrades that cost variable number of points. Consistency never was GW's strong point.
