Wasn't expecting a unit of repentia to 1 shot the tank...auto wounding on 6 and reroll everything was 18 auto wounds I went 3-1 in both pods I tested it in. One of them I lost in the finals. jpwyrm
Very cool list. I'm surprised you went for Chapter Master considering it can't apply it's full reroll to the Astraeus. Then again, I guess it can target itself or your counter attack units when you really need to delete something. Have you felt the lack of Fight Last mechanics? Fight last is usually not a problem with my defensive play. Wulfen fight on death and I have murderous hurricane if needed. Banners + shock tactics + Glory kills/Mighty Saga gives me good defensive scoring options If opponent tries to avoid giving me shock tactics i lean hard on denying him primary CM is just to make sure the smash master can kill a big target with his MC TH He 1 shot a big knight a few games back I added WG to this list to give another option for CM buff Edited December 13, 2022 by TiguriusX Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376864-saga-of-the-astraeus/#findComment-5892056 Share on other sites
jpwyrm
Thanks for taking the time to share your thought process behind the list. I really like it to be honnest, even though I play with models and don't own an Astraeus! I was on the fence between something like this or a dread heavy force with a Sicaran Omega as a centerpiece and heavy lifter in the shooting phase. Combined, there is more wounds spread around the table but I have a feeling that the Astraeus is still more durable. T8 and 2+ save is good The void shields give it a special boost against specific armies as well bc excess damage is lost Storm caller on top and it is definitely the most durable SW unit i can think of Makes my games v custodes and Tau better than if i had the LFs Only army i am afraid of losing it turn 1 is knights Votan need the judgment tokens to stack up before they can threaten it Even then the AP2 guns can bounce off the armor saves The key is position to minimize incoming shots. It is titanic so obscuring doesnt help. Need to go behind high walls and block LOS. I specifically added it to test v demon flamers (hate those gdamn things) and aeldari swooping hawk spam (hate those too) As fate would have it i played 0 of those since making the change... On offense it can fly so it can hop the wall to get LOS for itself It is definitely fun to use. BS2 and rerolling 1s to wound with SW combos. Hidden benefit is that it uses none of my CP on offense like LFs do. I do overwatch and repulsor fields sometimes on defense. If you want a good laugh you can also park on top of crates (see attached) RikuEru 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376864-saga-of-the-astraeus/#findComment-5892102 Share on other sites

Cheers, Torin Cyber wolves, cheap units you park on your backfield to prevent deepstrike insertions. Easy to spread out and hide to create "safe zones" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/376864-saga-of-the-astraeus/#findComment-5892255 Share on other sites

Karhedron
At a guess, they are there for secondaries and screening. At 15 points each you have a unit that can help push enemy reserves away from more valuable units. They can also count for things like Behind enemy Lines. Sadly in Nephilim they do not count for Engage on All Fronts but they are still a handy nuisance unit. If all else fails you can use them to eat Overwatch. Cheers, Torin They mainly zone out and eat overwatch for the wulfen. Some games i use them as bait to initiate a trade. Some games they are left behind to sit on an objective. They advance and charge with 10+d6 movement. They can easily reach whatever the wulfen are charging.
