Heya gang,

I've been working on this with another fellow Badab Enthusiast, its just the barebones at the moment, but it will be rapidly expanding as we go along!

THE LIBER BADAB

Back again after a long hiatus.

Many aplogies for the ages between updates, but I'm sure you all undertand the ebbing and flowing of hobby mojo!

Well consider the Mojo reignited!

V1.6 Liber Astartes, Secessionists and Loyalists have all been moved over to the new scribus format, meaning fixing stuff and changing points costs etc is very easy (as well as having already submitted feedback, corrections and unit descriptions added, thank you to all those that have send those in!).

The final slog will be getting the 'other forces' documents running correctly! But I'll start working on that!

Finally after some conversations with a few Enthusiasts, some weapons are a bit funky, namely blasts etc with the drop of HH2.0, some of these will be getting a slight massage to bring into an effective state. So the next big thing we'll be working on is a single, concise Badab Weapons Reference Sheet, this will allow us to easily massage some offending weaponry into something more fair for all, while being in one, easy to reference place. So that will more than likely drop in the next release.

You want it and here it is!

I have to say that I love this, I'll be giving it a full read through when I can but I like what I see so far!

Thanks mate, if you see any issues or have any thoughts please whack them in the feedback link, will make sorting through the issues easier!

I haven't read it yet, but its a really cool idea, using the established marine v marine focus of the HH ruleset into the Badab war is a great idea.

Edit: Went to open the file, and the MEGA folder reports that the file is missing?

Heya gang,

I believe there was a bit of a hiccup with GW and Copyright etc, so a copyright friendly version has just dropped.

Ok V1.3 is here!

There has been quite a lull and for that dear Badabians, we apologise!

The entire Liber has been trawled for any 'problematic' material and is hopefully a bit safer to be floating around in the internet!

The bulk of this release has went into that we're afraid, so going forward we'll be fixing up any new issues that people find, and we're still absolutely gagging for unit descriptions even after Evan's tireless work!

But within this volume is

Astartes Core List

Chapter Lists

Tyrants Legion

Imperial Guard/Human Auxilieries

Armour/Special Rules

We'll also in the future be looking to move our 'process' to something a bit more professional, so hopefully in the future we'll be able to offer people a file that is neater, more professional looking (easier to update!) and will be fit for priting, privately, if thats what peopleare into!

Once we've moved across to this better format and tighten up the 'core' book, we'll be looking to add very 'lite' rules for some of the random inhabitants of the maelstrom zone so even more people can get involved (Think small Ork 'holds', heretek clans, void pirates etc).

And now come the buckets of links!

Never understand GW sending their lawyers after projects like this.  Yes, I understand copyright rules and all that legalese, but unless they are planning to reprint the IA book or push out a newer version in a book, game, etc, this is surely just free publicity and a win for them.

I was thinking about using the Age of Darkness rules for Badab myself, so this saves me a lot of effort for converting my old 5th ed. codex over.

Having given some of the entries a quick once over, it looks like you are truly doing the Emperor's/Tyrant's (delete as appropriate) work. My one complaint so far is that the blue background makes some of the text difficult to read, but that is really just a formatting thing.

One of the things I like about Badab over the Heresy is that while there are a similar number of protagonist factions, they are all much smaller and in a more confined setting. This allows for a more in-depth and close-up feeling to out forces. Your squad might be one of only a few hundred marines rather than of tens of thousands. The heroes of the battle are sergeants and junior officers, not legendary warriors and Primarchs.

I shall be following this project closely, keep up the good work!

Yeah we've gotten feedback the blueback ground is a bit aggressive. We're in the process of porting the process into a proper document creation program, so will tone it dow na bit then!

Exactly, there is some 'scope' to work within, but the heresy at this point is so broad that anything could happen.

With the recent announcement of 30K units being relegated to Legends in 10th ed, it is worth noting that players can find a home for their Spartans, Contempors and Cataphracti in the Badab War. They are limited in numbers, but they are there!

We're back again gang!

We've been slowly working away porting the Liber Badab over into Scribus which is a superior PDF creation platform.

In todays release we have the revamped Astartes Army List, which we figured was a good place to start as most people will be getting use out of it! It's been neatened, feedback has been applied and fresh unit descriptions have been put in.

More importantly we've finally added Company Level Deployments (RoWs) which some will seem familiar and some hopefully a bit of thematic fun.

Wow! Great idea. I was just thinking about starting a new chapter since the Indomitus terminators are released. I’m really looking forward to giving this a read.

Have at it mate, more the merrier!!

Spot on mate, we take them

The new versions look great. The Company Level Deployments rules look like a lot of fun to build an army around.

Just a thought, but it may be worth updating the first post in this thread with the latest versions as and when you release them, that way they are easy to find for anyone joining in.

Thanks mate, yeah just wanted to add a little something in there, there is definitely room to expand, but at least there is a start on the Company Level Deployments!

Good thinking, I'll post that up the top now!

I love the rules. Played a couple of games now (with both the Astral Claws and the Exorcists with mates using the Minotaurs and the Lamenters). We are going to run a Killteam event in my gaming group with these rules (old style killteam, 200 points, no 2+ saves, etc). Building up a Star Phantoms force for it

One thing I was wondering, since the Badab War was a big thing back in Rogue Trader, will there be any new rules for using rogue trader era minis like the Furibundus and Malevolent Dreadnoughts or the Saturnine Terminator? I think that would be a really interesting opportunity to explore.

(Loosely) Based on the stats in Space Crusade:

Malevolence Dreadnought - 250 Points

[ Malevolence Dreadnought | M4 | WS4 | BS5 | S8 | T8 | W6 | I4 | A4 | Ld2+ | Sv2+ | Dreadnought ]

Unit Composition - 1 Malevolence Dreadnought

Special Rules:

Chapter Tactics

It Will Not Die

Move Through Cover

Wargear:

Assault Cannon

Missile Launcher

Twin-Linked Bolter

Ferromantic Deflector

Wargear Options:

Weapon (Replace Point Cost/Add Point Cost (Max 4))

Assault Cannon (Free/+25)

Conversion Beam Cannon (+5/+30)

Disintegrator Cannon (+15/40)

Lascannon (Free/+25)

Missile Launcher (+5/+30)

Plasma Cannon (+5/+30)

Multi-Melta (+5/+30)

Longer Legs (+10/*)

Longer Legs: M4 -> M8

"When you cross paths with a Dreadnought, if you be some alien insect, pray to whatever primitive heathen gods that you might hold above yourself and hope in vain they'll save you from its bullets. ...And if you would willingly brand yourself a rebel against the Imperium? Don't bother praying at all."

It's a bit of a strange Dreadnought, one that's pretty expensive for with high strength and toughness, but relatively low movement and wounds by comparison. But with enough points poured into it, it will turn from curiousity to colossus, on par with a Leviathan in terms of firepower. I tried to keep it as close to the original as possible, though I did add some wargear options.

These stats can represent the MkVII Malevolence, MkVIII Marauder, MkIX Dominator, and MkX Abomination Dreadnoughts.
