Dal’yth - A sliver of hope from Tau’va to you.

Tau have always been a fascination of mine. Can’t say I have ever really committed to them properly though. 
 

However Dal’yth seem to have captivated my hobby mojo. Lots of scope for auxiliary units and a very rewarding colour scheme to work with as well. 
 

I’ve been chipping through some conversions and test pieces drawing inspiration from all over and honestly can’t wait to get more build and when the weather becomes spray friendly again get a bit more paint laid down. 
 

So far we have a standard Fireblade, a Gue’vesa Fireblade, enforcer commander, XV-15 inspired stealth suit test piece and an ethereal in progress.

I see the tilt in that pic. I’m pretty sure that picture angle doesn’t help the twist in the body. Appreciate you pointing it out. Will take a look at it when I’m next at the hobby desk.

I haven't seen the most recent Tau codex, but did they change the Dal'yth sept colour? It was definitely a dark turquoise last time I saw it. (I can see where you might have picked a different colour out of practicality, given the rest of your scheme)

I used the older 3rd and 4th edition references which was probably closer to incubi darkness. I however wanted a more industrial green and then took some artistic liberties with the yellow and purple markings. So I’m short my logic was green tau have all the space friends.

That's a nice scheme and well painted. I really like the human commander build and also that floating Ethereal.

Weathers been trash so I get time off. Bonus hobby time always a win. Been chipping away at a crisis suit to continue testing the colour methods as the scale of things grow. The yellow a bit flat but honestly using contrast to smooth things was always going to run that risk as things got bigger. A few things learnt to be mindful of going forwards. 
 

Xv-8 Shas’vre with plasma and resonator warheads. Deployed to slow the advance for the Ultramarines 8th as they threaten Dal’yth.

A quick edge highlight around the "chest plate" and head would likely remove that impression - something like Vallejo's Ice Yellow or GW's Dorn Yellow would probably be a good starting point

Cheers! Have both those colours to hand. Will give it a quick touch up when I’m back to painting yellow sections next on the ghostkeel and the commander.

No worries.  If you find it doesn't pop enough, you can try mixing an ivory in to it (Vallejo Bonewhite or Ivory, GW Screaming Skull, P3 Menoth White Highlight) to lighten it a bit.

Commander in Enforcer battlesuit and pro toy mirror shielding deploying for its first hunt. 
 

Great little project this one. The yellow actually has depth in it but for what ever reason my camera just didn’t want to pick it up. Perhaps I need a truer white light. Maybe Santa will be so gracious. Who knows.… waffling a side. Hears the last mini to be completed before Xmas. Hope you all have a wicked celebration how ever you are choosing to spend it.

Glad you enjoy the throw back to the old art. It’s been one of my favourite pieces the GW have produced for years. So has been nice to finally draw from that for a project.
