I was re-reading the new verbiage for Combat Doctrines (which replaces the old Combat Doctrine rules entirely) from the Balance Dataslate and, guess what...  they took away the restriction that the AP bonuses from Combat Doctrines can't stack with other bonus AP rules unless specifically stated.

 

There are not a lot of cases for this, but where it matters, being able to improve AP by -2 or even more can be very significant.

 

Anyway, just thought I'd share this discovery here...  cheers and happy gaming!

Ultramarines get their own, Tactical Expertise. I actually think being able to stack these things is a good idea as they're generally tied to bolters and under utilised abilities.

 

Nice find! I think many people including me missed it.

So are you saying this would overwrite the BRB’s ban on stack buffs/debuffs?

I believe you are correct there.

 

Storm of Fire and Martial Precision seem interesting to me as an Ultramarines player now eh. 10 Terminators dropping in, with a Captain, Fury of the First, maybe even a Chaplain with Catechism of Fire to really put the pain on a target.

 

Sure, it's a lot of investment but then the Terminators, Captain etc can be used turn on turn anyway.

My favorite tactic with this so far is putting "Unfailing Nerve," Tactical Doctrine, and +1 to hit/+1 to wound on my Castellans of the Rift Aggressors... that means at 9" they get 30 x S4 AP-2 Dmg1 shots, plus another 5D6 S4 AP-1 Dmg1 shots, all hitting on 2+s with +1 to wound... this shooting can even kill T7 vehicles/Monsters with average rolling and does a number on most infantry,  and that is not even counting in all their PF attacks in melee later in the turn.
