Cadian Castellan proxy

Any heartburn with proxying an old metal Cadian Colonel model for the Cadian Castellan?

 

Friendly games at the local Warhammer store are pretty loose with proxy rules, but I'm wondering about tournaments.  It's an official GW model, so I'm guessing it's fine for now until the official Castellan model releases.  But what about after the release?

I wouldn't see any problem with it. It's equipped appropriately and it's certainly got the presence for it. The idea that you only have to use the newest model would be crazy (like te;;ing people they could only run plastic kasrkin instead of metal ones). As long as your opponent is aware it should be fine in nearly all settings imo.

For tournaments you'll probably have to rebase. New one is most definitely on 28 or 32mm.

 

Also, some events don't let you proxy unreleased models, so always worth checking with your TO.

Since the castellans lore says they are similar rank as around senior officer/colonel

 

Thus the old senior officer models have to be the perfect stand in

Imagine it as Mauser C96 with its' holster-buttstock

such a great model. I used mine as a tank commander for my Shadowsword/Banesword/stormsword

I wouldn't even call that a proxy, it is a perfectly appropriate model with correct gear. Though rebasing on the new base size might be required for tournaments.

It's great! I'd have no issues 

I don't think TOs would either, but always worth checking. 

 

Rebasing may or may not be required. For what a 2mm difference in radius is worth, it would be to your detriment.

I don’t call that a proxy.  It’s a GW Cadian commander miniature.
