This is a list I'm looking at taking to a narrative event in a few months' time. I'd like to bring a combination of Sisters and Raven Guard, plus my Warhound, mainly because I'm enjoying making them. I'm not looking to make a super-powerful army but I do want to be able to play reasonably effectively and not be a walkover for opponents.

I've drawn up various versions of the list before with RG as the primary detachment. The reason for using Sisters as Primary is mainly their annoying special rule that limits access to their units unless you have a relevant HQ. Basically I can't have Sisters with swords and my jetbikes in the same list unless I make them a Primary detachment, which is annoying. This way I get to have cool stuff, and the Maiden of Sorrows warlord trait is a nice bonus. The jetbikes aren't actually good but I'm having fun converting them from Escher bikes. I could take a very small detachment with just the judge, some prosecutors, the jetbikes and the snipers but I've got an Acquisitor and would be sad not to use it. Abyssal knight is pretty great, too.

One major thing I lose out on is Mor Deythan. I just need the firepower in that slot from a las contemptor, particularly since my Sisters don't really bring anything to deal with vehicles. Also, the RG-specific RoWs aren't available to allied detachments, which feels a bit arbitrary as other Legions can do that. Losing preferred enemy is annoying but on the plus side a Recon Company can bring my Seekers as a troop choice - albeit without Line - which lets me bring them and some Dark Furies despite having only one FA slot.

An alternative would be to drop the RoW and have a Chaplain lead the Dark Furies. I'd save quite a lot of points if I dropped the Seekers and recon squad, though I don't have many slots available to spend them on. A melee contemptor would be an option.

Let me know what you think.

Here's how the list would look the other way around, with RG as the crusade detachment and sisters as the allies. To be honest I think I prefer this version. It just feels like it's got a little bit more toughness to it.

One slight issue is that the Delegatus will generally want to be in reserve, but has no obvious unit to go with. I guess I could just have him in normal reserve and wander on from my board edge. He can always outflank if I want. too. The Sanctioners and seekers are both fairly likely to be near to board edges, for him to join. Alternatively I could find 30 points (say by swapping the Contemptor for a melta/las predator) I could stick a Corvid jump pack on him. That would put him in danger though, and I quite like the idea of a "hidden hand" who doesn't play a direct role in the fighting himself.
