Hi all

I`m have to get my first borns (sorry old school) in shape for a small tournament. As I am also not a fan of wulfens/thunderwolves, those are missing as well.

Opponents will be mostly marines, chaos marines, deamons, some eldar/harlequins. I still try to find some good choices with all the free war gear.

I try something new with the jump wolf guard. Instead of double LC, I replace one LC for a combi-flamer. This should cause more wounds than the usual +1 Attack from the second LC.

And it is great for overwatch. AND it freed up some points for a trusty cyberwolve.

Tactics

Captain tries first turn charge, apply pressure with Skyclaws and Wolf Guards, supported by chaplain and rune priest. Bringing in Terminators wear needed. Grey Hunters try to get in "sticky touch" with mission objectives an move on.

Try to move the Wolf Guard Battle Leader to the Skyclaws otherwise the Skyclaws MUST try to charge the closest unit.  Slyclaws can also take 2 special weapons on skyclaws, one on the skyclaw battle leader, and a combi-weapon on the Wolf Guard Battle Leader.

 

You can take a combi-weapon on the Wolfguard Terminator with cycline missile launcher.  In BattleScribe don’t use the “Terminator with Heavy Weapon” option.

 

Not too sold on a Captain on bike suiciding into you opponent.  He’s going to move much faster than everything you want to bring with him.  I think you can drop him and promote the Chaplain and Librarian.  Get Wise Orator and Psychic Mastery on them plus get a second warlord trait, Hunter or Aura of Majesty, plus relics on the two, Armor of Russ for Librarian and Wulfen Stone for your Chaplain.

Thx. Good thoughts about the bike Captain. Dropping him, allowed me to replace the skyclaws with another Jump Wolf Guard unit. 1 less melta shot, but more punch in CC. I still could switch a SS for a combi-melta. Also made way for another Cyberwolve as screening/caping unit.

Looking good, you can through a Relic on your Chaplian.  I suggest the Wulfen Stone for the 6” re-roll charge distances, and one turn to make 5+ cause two hits.  Another option is to give him a little more combat punch with Benediction of Fury from the Space Marine Codex.  My preference for Characters is generally to act as support, but he can be pretty good in melee as well.

 

oh, I don’t really suggest combi-flamers, your melee loadout should suffice.  Also, the Wolfguard that just have combi-weapons can have a free power weapon or chainsword.  I kinda see them as choose your target.
