My First League - New Votann Army

So I’ve fallen in love with the Votann a little and just painted up my first mini. He still needs a name but I’m very pleased with how he turned out. 
 

the camera plays up the orange a little, it’s slightly more subtle in daylight.

I like the skin tone too, gives a really nice contrast.

The light box and my camera together manage to overheat the orange slightly. This picture is a little more representative. It’s still pretty vibrant, though!

 

 

I haven’t posted my progress, so it’s about time to correct that oversight. Here’s what else I’ve finished up so far.

Great work here!, really loving the Orange , Not downing on your work but a quick question though (it may be the photo's) do you recess wash on these models? cause it looks like on some models that there isn't a dark enough separation between some plates, otherwise very awesome!

Definitely giving me ideas for when I eventually attempt a bunch of Space Dwarves myself.

They are recess shaded but the light box blows out the orange and you can’t really see it. 
 

The codex says they’re big on expressing their individuality so I figured some funky hair colours were in order. 
 

 

This Pioneer has a pink beard. I mean, who’s gonna tell him he shouldn’t?

the only known way for a votann to express themselves is hair dye. for this reason, the iron kin are pityed

Just stumbled upon this thread. That is a very cool colour scheme. Not something I've seen before on LoV. Looks very vibrant. You'e done a really good job on the skin tone too. I always tried to avoid skin myself as I always just make mine look sick or burned. Can I ask what colour did you use for the coat on the Hearthkyn Pioneer?

Love the orange armour, and it goes well with the brown on the pioneers.

 

Colour theory would imply that something more in a blue tone would be more of a complimentary colour for the weapons than then yellow or purple.

 

But really nicely executed.  And as others have noted, I really like the skin tone.  May have to try that recipe

Traditional colour theory has more than just complimentary colours. 
 

Complimentary colours strongly contrast and can look noisy, distracting,or out of place particularly when used to pick out a single detail so I used analogous colours (also from colour theory and also on the bases) for a more harmonious appearance.
