Honestly, I don't mind at all, personally. I would rather play a well painted army with slightly wrong models than a grey hoard that's correct. Obviously it's more of a joy to play with a more "correct" army which I'd well painted, but I am more than willing to settle for an army which just looks great on the table top.

Nothing wrong with mk7 it just dates the look of your force to the siege of terra and scouring, go the extra mile equip them with earlier pattern weapons and using the same legion markings as you would on an earlier themed army and it looks really cool. Don't do those things though I geuss you lose the right to complain if someone calls you lazy lol. Aside from that there's a ton of examples in the art of Artificier armours that look remarkably like mark 7.

I think this thread shows that a lot of people (myself included) respect effort just as much as accuracy. If you’ve put effort into a force and you’ve made it your own and themed it as a heresy army then I don’t mind which armour mark you use. Using MK7 is not something I’d do, purely because I prefer the look of mark 3 and 4, but I’d have no problem paying against a mk7 force if the effort was there.

I would draw the line at Primaris though. I’m not against Primaris but to me they are NOT 30k.

Haha yes I feel the same way. It already feels like 30k is a port in the storm from some of the new 40k designs and lore developments, as they can't really retcon it too much now. I can't imagine in five years time when there are Centurious Maximus disintegrators (Primaris Centurions inside another Centurion, designed by Ferrus Mannus after he recovered from his decapitation). No thanks, just give me a nice Beakie please

Once I did, but I've stopped caring these days: GW will retcon their own fluff if it suits them. Playing the game and having fun is more important anyway.

With caring less, I'm more aware that this is a sci-fi tabletop game and not a historical re-enactment or replica. I'm also aware that "the age of darkness" expands from Ullanor until the end of the scouring, rather then just the heresy itself. Only GW groups seem to hold proxying to such disdain. Heresy groups in particular are bad for it.
