Angel_of_Blood
As per the title, I find it really odd that the massive trove of Horus Heresy and Great Crusade lore, that can be found in the Black Books, hasn’t been released in another format. It’s not even like the lore is minor or a small part of the books, yet there are some like me who have no interest in the rules part. Something I really hope they sort out at some point. Petitioner's City
I was very surprised they didnt put it up on Warhammer Vault this past year (as they have done so well with other FW books); one reason could be that the future 'campaign' books are "Second Edition" style reeditions of the old black books, much like the Imperial Armour second edition books of the early 2010s. But I do hope we see them on the Vault sometime soon. Noserenda
Yeah hoping they hit the vault, i really hope they dont start replaying the whole heresy again in second ed supplements when we get them, GET ON WITH IT :D I want some Siege of Terra lists! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/377547-why-is-the-black-books-lore-not-available-elsewhere/#findComment-5910318 Share on other sites
lansalt
A second edition of those books plus the missing rules for Shattered Legions, Blackshields, etc. seems like a no brainer, but I guess that the current focus in the late Heresy era/Siege which is way after when the released Black Books were set doesn't make GW do it right now (if ever) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/377547-why-is-the-black-books-lore-not-available-elsewhere/#findComment-5910334 Share on other sites
sarabando
just bundle the art, the fluff and pics together call it Age of Darkness and sell it as is. To be honest, I kind of expected them to do just that. Re-issue the previous black books but without the army list components. Would also be a pretty low effort affair since the campaigns don't need too much adjusting. Ofcourse I'm not a publisher so I might be wrong. Having said that, maybe they will still do that and we'll be blessed with going back to one black book a year Aarik 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/377547-why-is-the-black-books-lore-not-available-elsewhere/#findComment-5910354 Share on other sites
Felix Antipodes
I actually thought that the First Founding book announced for the BL Celebration was exactly this, a compilation of the black book lore, with a second book for the traitor legions to follow. Opportunity missed I feel. MegaVolt87
I think the OG 1.0 content will be the foundation of the 2.0 campaign books. Same with the expanded units. It's going to be "new" content but not really if you know what I mean. It's fine, because it saves design and dev time. Not to mention people would be largely ok with that because such disconnected content most would be happy to have re-intergrated into 2.0. I don't mind either honestly.
