I suspect that GW is about to discover what the market will bear.

Canadian prices are out now, and they didn't go up 5% or even 10%. Some went up 33%, some went up 25%.

Wait, Canadian prices went up 25-33% while all other regions had increases of 5-10%??

Yep. Combat patrol boxes used to be $180 CAD and now go for $240 CAD. Heavy Intercessors were $80 CAD and now run $105. Kill Teams always had a range from $65- 80- most are now $105.

I think that what happened here was a double whammy: there was both a price increase and a recalculation for Canadian currency. Either way, it's a hobby killer.

I couldn’t say for certain but looks like prices went up from 5-10 dollars for a lot of things, so from $60 for a tac squad to $70 for example. It is possible it was 65 before but don’t know for sure. If it was $60 then that is a price increase of a little over 16% which is quite a bit more than the 6% mentioned. If it was a $5 increase than that would still be more than the 6% mentioned but our prices have always been skewy. Not as bad as the aussies but still worse than the yanks if going straight by exchange rates usually.

Ate you sure, my warhammer is showing $190 for combat patrols and 85 for heavy intercessors?

Doh! Somehow my site was showing me Australian prices and I didn't notice. Wow, my Australian Fraters, you have my sympathy.

Flipped the currency up at the top and things went back to normal. Having looked at Australian prices all day, I don't even notice increases to Canadian prices.

Thank goodness for 3D printers or I'd only get stuff a couple times a year.

There must be a point where the extra money they generate is less than the money they lose from customers being priced out? Doesn't seem to be happening any time soon, but we gotta be close surely?

This has been my solution.  GW wanted to be anti-consumer by taking away weapon packs for years.  I wanted to give them my money, but there was no ability to.  And thus, I 3D printed every melta, plasma, etc... for many of my armies.

And that has evolved from just weapon bits to MANY other things. Like, full models.

I think with all the instant gratification and electronics kids have today they are going to have an uphill battle recruiting younger players at the rate they used to. My daughter is 11 and in no way does she have the attention for painting Warhammer or learning just some basic rules. I was in the hobby before I was 11. Wasn't very good mind you haha.

Lack of newer younger blood will bite them in the butt someday. And then the sticker shock of the prices will turn parents away from wanting their kids to participate in the hobby. It's going to be a hurdle for them for sure long term.

I got back into the hobby last year and introduced my 8 year old son to my old Space Hulk and then we started Kill Team.

I got a real surprise hearing many of his peers knew what Warhammer is, one kid has even taken an issue of White Dwarf to school! There appears to be more, younger new blood than when I got into Rogue Trader. How many will stick with it though? Time will tell, especially if prices keep increasing!

Knowing what Warhammer is and actually purchasing models and playing are two different things though. When you got into rogue trader (or me into 3rd edition launch), there wasn't the internet support, Warhammer+ and 10+ Warhammer video games out there. I know a lot of dudes now that know what Warhammer is. Almost none of them play though.

I'm increasingly embarrassed to tell people about my GW hobby, not because it's socially unacceptable, but because it's awful when they learn how much these models cost!

Pretty sure I spent less on drugs back in the dayF482C0C1-C139-40A4-8B87-9192CA5D4974.png.5fc3822e052814df2ad7651e7e8c69f8.png

Thanks for the Sympathy...

I still prefer to pay our prices...cause we're the Lucky Country and all...  can't say any more than that  (don't want my post deleted again...)
