Brother Tyler
One of the core goals of this site is to allow the members of the community to engage with others and to promote participation in the hobby in a constructive manner. While assembling/painting miniatures and playing games is necessarily an "in person" activity (Tabletop Simulator notwithstanding), the electronic medium allows for myriad methods of engaging in the hobby. These include things like web/project logs, clubs, online challenges and events, etc. Often, however, the efforts of individuals and groups can slip under the radar of other members, limiting the exposure of and participation in hobbyists' efforts. So we want to see what we can do to improve in that area. If you look at the top of the page you'll see a large banner image next to the B&C skull logo (assuming you're not on a mobile device). While we have a few long-term site images there, including images submitted by BLOODSAINT and madscuzzy and a text-only image of our site name, you'll also often see banner images for ongoing challenges. Prior to this point, these have been the result of efforts led by the Moderati, but it was never our intent to limit such banners to those driven by mod efforts. We're opening that up to all of our members. Members may advertise a project, club, challenge, or event via an image in our site banner rotation. There are some basic requirements: All content in the image (text, imagery) must meet our community standards. All projects, clubs, challenges, and events must be taking place here at the Bolter & Chainsword (i.e., no advertising external efforts*) All projects, clubs, challenges, and events must be for community participation, not just for one individual to showcase their work. "Community participation" doesn't mean giving you feedback on your effort - it means that members of the community are actively contributing to the project, club, challenge, or event. * We'll make an exception for charity efforts that involve Warhammer 40,000. If you would like to get your project, club, challenge, or event image in the banner rotation, here's what you need to do: Create an image 1,098 pixels wide x 182 pixels high in .gif, .jpg/.jpeg, or .png format. Upload the image to the B&C Gallery, either in your own album for the project, club, challenge, or event or in the Site Banners album. Have a location on the site that serves as the main area for the project, club, challenge, or event. This might be a discussion topic in the forums, a club in the Clubs, or even a blog category in your Blog. Create a new topic in the Amicus Aedes forum with the name of your project, club, challenge, or event in the topic title and including the "Site Banner" tag. The topic should provide: A description of the project, club, challenge, or event The name(s) of all members involved in the coordinating the project, club, challenge, or event Key dates, especially the start and end dates, if applicable The image The image URL The URL of the project, club, challenge, or event home (e.g., discussion topic, blog category, club page, etc.) The staff will evaluate the submission and, if it is found to be suitable, will add the image to the banner rotation. Images will be removed from the banner rotation upon completion of the project, club, challenge, or event; or when they are seen to be stagnating and no progress is made.
