Alright frater, soror, and all others, the latest Exemplary Battle gave us rules for allied detachments of Ruinstorm Daemons, but just Brutes (and Brute-like HQ). FW Brutes are on 50mm bases, so what models would make good -ahem- bases for converting Ruinstorm Daemons. Ogroid Theridons are all I could think of off the top of my head.

Something one of our group mentioned is that the lack of base requirements means that you can use any model as your brutes. Indeed many people might not know the brute models even exist (again a situation reflected in the group). Better to not put barriers in front of players though - especially for such a conversion-friendly army :)

Ogroid Theridons are almost perfect.

Slaangor are 40mm base but would work fine.

Crypt flayers are an easy choice (alternative build without wing arms)

I also like the idea of Necropolis Stalkers, little bit of a stretch but would look great with a few tweaks and decent grim-dark paintjob.

Very true, if someone wanted to use models on 60mm or 40mm id be totally fine with it, but some of the fun (for me) when converting up your own interpretations, is seeing what can be done within a certain expectation.

Definitely excited to finally dip into this. While the idea of just using current Daemons as a filler was nice, I am looking forward to the potential customization of this. Horus Heresy has become interesting enough that this is far more than just a "40k Adjacent" game, so specific models for it might be fun.

That said, while the brutes have a lot of options (Thanks for the examples above!) but I feel like we need something more grandiose for the Regeant. The new Daemon Prince would be perfect and I am glad to see he is still on a 60mm base, which honestly is probably close enough for most people. I had plans for getting Daemon Princes later, but if this army gains enough ground, getting a solid "First Daemon Prince" to lead my other warlords to their own ascension might be perfect.

Pretty sure I will be looking into magnetizing Slaanagors onto a 50mm base. Or something of that sort. I am aiming for a Slaaneshi bend anyways, but with the different variants there is a LOT of variety I might consider. So much potential!

Ohhh, with the plating, I could see giving them Sicarian Ruststalker/Infiltrator heads and making techno-demons. Also, Ambots have 50 mm bases.... And there's some more money gonna get spent and a new side project to distract from getting more Death Guard done.

Ambots are only 40s :)

I think fiends of slaanesh would make great brutes. The slaangors might make a good basis for conversions. Many years ago I made a fantasy army featuring a lot of snake-bodied things, which could work quite well.
