Inquisitor_Lensoven
Like imagine Dante gets to retire, goes to the florida of the imperium, and buys a vineyard. after a few centuries, space florida is thrust into chaos by a chaos cult or a GSC, and it’s up to dante to save the day. Brother Tyler
That's not how it works for the Adeptus Astartes. Those that become too old/injured to fight serve in an advisory capacity, lending their years of experience and knowledge to the leadership and administration of the Chapter so that the fighting leaders can continue to lead from the front. You might apply the concept to the Adeptus Custodes or you might apply it to one of the Fallen or perhaps a renegade Astartes. It would also work very well with any number of non-transhumans such as the Imperial Navy, Imperial Guard, Adeptus Arbites, etc. But it is unlikely with the Adeptus Astartes. lansalt
This is actually similar to the origin story of the Scythes of the Emperor in The Aegidan Oath. A lone and forgotten ultramarine has been there since the Scouring, just being a farmer until he receives a surprise visit. The locals knew who he was, but after so many years stranded he had become just part of them. In fact, the Scythes are later notorius for how well they treat their humans even compared to the UM. Brother Hellion
Actually this would make more sense being like a retired Tempest Scion or Commissar. Able to blend in more but has the skills to kill most ordinary people while having some PTSD from all the weird :cuss:e they've seen.
