hd3
I wanted to get some headhunters for my Alpha Legion warband but forgeworld only sells headhunters as an upgrade pack. Do the upgrades work on any mark of HH marine? I'm not sure how forgeworld upgrades work honestly. Could anyone explain? Grotsmasha
They are designed to work with the firstborn kits Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378063-do-the-alpha-legion-headhunters-upgrades-work-on-any-mark-of-hh-marine/#findComment-5925185 Share on other sites
Solution Warden-Paints Posted March 26, 2023 Solution Share Posted March 26, 2023 I believe they are specifically designed for the Mark IV marine kit, but might also be compatible with MKIII. They were made and marketed to work with plastic MkIV marines, but technically you can kitbash them with any other classic multipart marine kit with separate torsos and legs. Some people even cut in half the new MkVI marines to make their headhunters taller. Bung
I can recommend this Video for converting MK VI Marines with resin Torsos. https://youtu.be/5hSxhSz1OFM lansalt, Firedrake Cordova and Xenith 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378063-do-the-alpha-legion-headhunters-upgrades-work-on-any-mark-of-hh-marine/#findComment-5925251 Share on other sites
Xenith
As above, they're designed for the Mk4 plastics, or any ball join legs with the Mk4 arms, however if you're willing to do some cutting they can be used with Mk6 - That's what I'll be trying for my next unit of them. Spottswoode
I used two of the new Mrk VI marines in my HH squad to add some variation, and while the proportions aren't an exact match, you can make it work. Just bear in mind that they're designed with the old armour Mrks in mind, so the torso has a semi-spherical space at the bottom to allow for the ball and socket system they use: This means if you're using them with something like the new Mrk VI, once you've cut the torso from the legs you end up having to marry a flat space (legs) to a curve (HH torso) and there's not a lot of contact points for the glue to bite onto., so you'll probably want to fill out that space with Milliput of Greenstuff. Or pin it, but filling the space will also mean you don't have go back and fill any visible gaps when it's built. Oh, and the other annoying thing is the Banestrike bolters only come with a hand on the grip, which is fine for early armour Mrk sets as they were the same, but the new Mrk VI has the left hand moulded onto the gun, so you'll need to source some replacements if you want to sue those.
