What are y'all's thoughts on this?  Do we think they'll be like Calgars Honor Guard limited to 2, 3 in this case, or like BGV taken in units of 3-6?

It'd be pretty nice to see them in blocks of up to six, but I'd be happy with them standalone eventually, with the ability to take more than one squad.

I think this is where we shall see our updated decal sheet, as the current 8E one does not include what's needed for Bladeguard.

 

I'd been expecting that all through 9E, as once the 9E starter boxes go OOP, you wouldn't ever be able to make Deathwing Bladeguard.

Aye, have to agree there, was hoping for something akin to the UM’s own equivalent, however as I said on the News and Rumours thread I expected it to be load out wise in the same ballpark and already picked up a Bladeguard box to fill out numbers some more. Well, seems they’ll be so close in load out as to be the same kit!

 

To reiterate here too from my other post, I’m going to make my own damn special unit of Lion’s Guard. That is, I shall paint them black with the Legion iconography, with the idea being any of the Unforgiven 1st Coy Primaris could be called to serve for a time as his Life Guards. They will leave their armour and Chapter colours behind while undertaking this duty, and wear the heraldry of old! Functionally they’ll just be Deathwing Bladeguard of course

 

I’ll probably use either 3D printed shields from the HH Companions or the DW Knights to snazz them up a bit, and see if I can hunt down winged versions of the Bladeguard helm to match the Lion’s better

I am going to be using blade guard for the melee veterans for my DA companies anyway, so this is just fewer to buy as I was already going to get the Lion, however I do wish that there was a unique kit or at least an upgrade sprue. Ah well.

I'd very much like to see them fold chunks of the Fallen back in. The question there becomes whether Luther will join as well, or will he stay traitor. Not sure I mind either way as long as it's handled well.

It would be interesting if the Lion leaves then Unforgiven Chapters to get on with their existing jobs and takes control of the repentant Fallen as his personal strike force.

My guess is they're going to split the baby.  Some Fallen were always Not Chaos-fallen but lost Fallen, some were fully over the line.  They'll have to keep that going for the few Chaos players who created a Fallen contingent, while bringing back the Lost-Fallen opens up new model opportunities.
