That would be very anticlimactic

Given all the hints through the series about the symbolic schemes and plans within plans of the Emperor, I hope there's more to it.  It cannot be random that the Emperor created a legion of vampire Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde marines loaded with so much metaphor about the duality of angels vs. daemons, etc.

I mean it is very practical. And during the GC, pre-Sanguinius, they weren’t at all angelic other than their bodies. The symbolism with that was that it was how humanity could be perfected from the lowest of the low being resculpted I to true beauty. But I think the flaw was just a pragmatic acceptance that goes with everything having a cost.

So basically the most I think we can get of it is the Emperor wanted a legion that could do x, and symbolize y.

X was accomplished but had the side effect of the thirst. Y was accomplished in spite of x’s side effect.

It is also made clear that the emperor did not like the idea of angels and such, and it was a compromise that turned out really well.

Spoiler

Looks like the yellow king (possibly Valdor) is up to something, and it involves experiments on blood angels as there’s more than one with wings in it.

this is in the current timeline, not 30k.

apparently Abnett had the go ahead to do something crazy

Just a fluff idea floating in my head, and I'm likely not the first to theorise in this way...

We've already seen a TSon bond with a shard of Magnus in 30K, resulting in Ianius or "Janus", first master of the GK. In "current" 40K, we may see the beginnings of a revived Imperium Secundus structure or an "Imperium Tertius", if you will. We have Guilliman in Sanctus, the Lion's anticipated return, and Primaris Dante in Nihilus. To complete the triumvirate, could there be a near-death experience for Dante and his survival due to him bonding with a shard of Sanguinius floating in the Warp, one which has been watching over the chapter for millennia, i.e. the Sanguinor? The Sanguinor could be Alatron, but after Sanguinius' death, there could have been some sort of merging between Alatron and Sanguinius in the Warp...or Alatron could just be retconned, as I never really liked the whole business with Alatron and Haratial.

What think you folks out there?

This could be something saved for, say, 12th edition...if we don't get the return of Leman Russ or another MIA Primarch.

Purely from a product perspective, releasing Dante just now means Dante won't be Sanguinius. When the inevitable Blood Angels reboot hits they will need a Primarch option to fill that product slot, and will probably just use Sanguinor+.

What’s the pariah stuff?

Spoiler

In the second book of the pariah series bequin is travelling through some sewer/catacombs under a city. the first hint we get is a description of a skeleton the size of an astartes on the wall with bones that would indicate wings, with a red marine helmet with the roman numer IX on it. then a literal winged astartes attacks, she turns off her limiter cuff so her null aura hits him, and it clears up his thirst, he eventually drinks the blood of people attacking her and like swears to protect her, but he has amnesia.

off the top of my head thats all of the pertinent things i can remember.
