Does the Watcher in the Dark *need* to be on the base of the Primaris Azrael model?

... so I ended up getting one off of eBay. Just built him. He looks great can't wait to paint him but .... I don't want the Watcher in the Dark on his base. I'd rather put the Watcher on a 25mm base and sit him next to Azrael.

 

Do you think that would be any rules or table top problem?

I don’t think so, it would be no different than the perfidious relic that deathwing can get. It counts for nothing and is just more of a wysiwyg thing

Does the new model invalidate the old duo?

No, it does not. The rules supersede the old ones but the models do not. You can still use your old Azrael model with the new rules.

In-game, Watchers in the Dark are just tokens to remind you and your opponent that you have not yet used their Deny the Witch ability. They are ignored in all other regards, so no issue if you want it on or off of a base.

Thanks for the replies all. Yeah I was trying to think of any reason he had to be mounted on the base with Azrael. I came up with zilch too lol.
