Hi frateres.

I'm going to start painting my SoH army and I'm looking for a good base green for them. But not a GW lupercal green or similar. What are the alternatives in other companies? Is somewhere an actualized color equivalent table?

Thanks!

According to this post from ACMiniatures on Facebook, the secret sauce for this SoH was Monument Hobbies’ ProAcryl Jade.

(Don’t know who ACMiniatures is, but that’s a pretty nice looking mini IMO)

Monument Hobbies actually has an entire Jade triad: Dark Jade (one of Vince Venturella’s Signature Colors), Jade, and Bright Jade.  I haven’t yet used the paints of these colors I have, but the entire ProAcryl line is very nice, IMO.

Tale of Painters also has this Sons of Horus painting guide, with paints displayed - it also looks pretty good, and uses many less GW paints.

Vallejo has some similar ones. I used Dark Sea green as a base for shadows with Model air Light green as the actual base colour and Cockpit green for highlights, for an early like Istvaan or loyalist colour any lighter turquoise is good like doing a zenithal primer and just airbrushing Liquitex turquoise ink will work wonders. I find the GW colours are too bright for depicting the darker more desaturated later war scheme they adopted with the really dark shadows you see in the black books more green than blue. There is a standard equivelent to the model air light green but I can't remember the name at the moment.

edit: It's Vallejo Deep Green. Slightly darker than the airbrush light green but still has some blue in it.
