KiltedMarine
So as my Hounds of Arawn make a (SLOW) transition to Primaris, I'm left with a quandary of what to do LF-wise. Primaris are unit specialists, so rather than running my old blended LF pack (2xHB, LC, PC or ML) I have to decide on a specific Primaris unit to do one "trick." What Primaris units have you all used to fill the role LFs did with Firstborn? TiguriusX
Desolation marines with super krak fill 2 roles Super krak provides anti tank Castellan launchers + vengor provide anti horde with indirect options Basically like having ML long fangs who can fire both krak and frag at the same time Except super krak has much better guaranteed damage at d3+3 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378292-primaris-long-fang-options/#findComment-5933929 Share on other sites
Valerian
I really dig the look of my Eradicators, and they've got the right equipment for anti-tank. Of course, none of us have any idea of what's going to be relevant in 10e quite yet. They might not have the same mobility options, which makes their job tough with such short-ranged weapons. Love the models, though, so I'd get them anyway. You might also want to look toward non-infantry options, too. The Storm Speeders are looking pretty sweet with the significantly upgraded Toughness on their new sheets revealed today. Karhedron
Eradictors are good currently and Desolators look like they may be better than initial assessments suggested. Personally I would hang on until we get a better idea of the shape of 10th edition. We know vehicles are going up in toughness, I have a hunch that this is going to create a niche for Tank "Destroyers" such as the Gladiator Lancer and Repulsor Executioner. As it stands, it looks like most man-portable weapons weapons will be only wounding tanks on a 5+ so it looks like it might be necessary to take tanks of our own simply to counter enemy tanks. This is just speculation on my part but I wouldn't rush out to buy too many new units just yet. dees
Desolators seem to fit the bill for Long Fangs and have great reach, but Eradicators are a very strong unit being able to put out 8 melta shots at 24 inches each turn for 135 points. So really both work IMO. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378292-primaris-long-fang-options/#findComment-5934400 Share on other sites
TiguriusX
Reminder that all of this changes in 10th We already see melta rifles are losing range (down to 18") and assault dees and WrathOfTheLion 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/378292-primaris-long-fang-options/#findComment-5934430 Share on other sites
