The Warhawks - 30k+ white scars

I got a good deal on some ebay White Scars but I don't want to paint white.

Even though 10th is on the horizon, me and mine have decided that HH2.0 is the way, so I've decided that I'll make a 'White Scars' army that gets destroyed by Doombreed in the 5th Black Crusade, so I can use HH models and the early end of 40k models (e.g, 40k jump packs or razorbacks or similar, but not primaris stuff)

Jaghatai was called 'The Warhawk', and I'm going to have them bedecked in White Scars lightning bolt icons (but not colours), but not use the Primarch, and otherwise use LA:White Scars and be jetbike/land speeder heavy. I will also be using primaris Outriders as 30k outriders but only until HH outriders hopefully one day arrive.

 

I'm torn on two colours - either Crimson Fist Blue (dark hunters, canon white scar successor blue) or emperor's children purple (colour of mourning, mourning the Warhawk?)

What do you think?

As a Sons of Jaghatai painter am I all for purple.

Suggest taking a look at the Raven Guard upgrade kits (both 40k n 30k) if you want to go more raptor in their bling.

 

Any thoughts about their markings regarding squads, battlefield roles, and similar?

No, not really, but I like the idea of purple and yellow/gold with a bit of MKVI, a few lightning bolts and so on, or deep blue and red with the said same lightning bolts. 

I think I need to buy and paint a squad of each to work it out

I suggest sticking with yellow instead of gold if you go with purple so people will not automatically think Emperor's Children when you play HH.

 

The classic 40k WS figures I remember used black as the colour for their shoulder/leg eagles of office and similar, maybe do the same? Or if that will not stand out enough against the purple/blue what about white or silver for that.
